Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Randy Hopper, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --SWMNPoliSciProject (talk) 22:31, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Additions to Wikipedia entries

edit

The additions of information regarding the Wisconsin recall efforts walk a bit of a "fine line" regarding neutrality on Wikipedia. Adding information on the recall efforts is acceptable and legitimate provided the sources are neutral and irreproachable. What flagged the initial deletion and subsequent modification of the content you added on Wikipedia was the introduction of content that claims that the Wisconsin State Senator who was the subject of the edits, Randy Hopper, is not a legal resident of his district and lives with a "mistress." Because those claims are potentially libelous and impinge on the subject's personal life, care should be taken not to introduce them into the entry's content unless and until irreproachable sourcing is obtained validating those claims. Thank you. --SWMNPoliSciProject (talk) 23:24, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Randy Hopper

edit

I put in a citation from the Wisconsin Blue Book and it was taken out with no reasons given. Please take this to the talk page. Thank you-RFD (talk) 21:05, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please note the comments that I left on Talk:Randy Hopper earlier on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in response to edits by Seleucus. The concern with your previous edits was that they were not properly referenced/sourced, which opens the edits up to scrutiny and potential liability. Especially when the entry addition is personal in nature and includes allegations that the subject no longer lives in his legislative district, but lives with a "mistress" elsewhere, we have to act with caution. Seleucus subsequently properly referenced the revised addition regarding this individual, which then allowed the edits with details on the allegations to stand. Not only did I compliment Seleucus in a subsequent edit, but also affirmed the proper formatting in my comments on Talk:Randy Hopper. Had you read the Randy Hopper talk page--something anyone regularly editing an entry should do--you wouldn't have had to take the time to comment further.
