From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search PeterQuixote is the living impersonation of the Miguel Cervantes character Don Quijote in the book of the same name.

The anarchic and symbolic life of PeterQuixote follows that first novel by Cervantes in a modern Western setting.

Frustrated by his life at the turning of age fifty, PeterQuixote begins feverishly following the adventures of his hero Don Quijote and slowly realises that he is moulding his own life around the personality of a fictitious character of four centuries previous.

Quixotically renaming himself after the Don, Peter Quixote imagined that Don Quixote was a spanish hero, because he had not taken the time as the Don had done, to read up on chivalry, chauvinism and jingoism.

For the purpose of clarity I will refer to Don Quixote, as Don Quijote, as the Spanish are now inclined to do, but be aware that the very name of Quijote, Quixote, or even Quesada is a tale in itself.

The Quijote name was not the Don's real name, he invented Quijote,or Quixote. The author, Cervantes is mysterious here, by informing us that Don himself changed his name, but not revealing too much about the origins of his character. It becomes more crystalised as Cervantes elicits his character without proper reference to money or income.
