Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Sir Peter Singer may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects.

Your username

edit

Hello. It seems your Wikipedia user name resembles that of Peter Singer, the High Court judge. To prevent unfortunate cases where pranksters pretend to be someone well known, our user name policy (at Wikipedia:Username) requires that such accounts be blocked (the part where it says "Names of well-known living or recently deceased people"). We do, however, realise that some (regrettably only a very few) of such cases are infact the real person named; to that end, can I ask you to email info-en-q@wikimedia.org (mentioning this discussion at "User talk:Peter Singer") from your official email address and confirm that you really are Sir Singer, or that you're editing on his behalf. The people who handle that email list will then be able to unblock this account. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I hope you'll understand why we need to be careful in this regard. I have also blocked User:PeterSinger. Thanks/wangi 12:59, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

It would be useful to have some indication from User:Peter singer as to whether this person is the judge. The edit history makes it seem unlikely to me: links added by this user to Sir Peter Singer (see diff) and to Joyanne Bracewell (see diff) both come from a Fathers 4 Justice perspective. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:05, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes, there are some real WP:BLP concerns here. Thanks/wangi 13:08, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
