September 2019 edit

Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Council on American–Islamic Relations. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 14:46, 15 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Binsternet,
I'm confused because I did not add commentary, my own point of view, or my own personal analysis to the Council on American–Islamic Relations page. In fact, I removed a paragraph in the lede. I laid out my reasons for doing so on the talk page, where I asked to initiate a discussion. Could you let me know how to do this according to protocol? I am a relatively new editor. The above message that I left here is a stock piece of boilerplate generated automatically when I reverted your removal of the second paragraph, specifically when I indicated in my reversion that the reason was because of WP:Neutral point of view. I can see that the text has very little bearing on a removal of well-cited negative text. Sorry about that.
The warning still stands about violating WP:NPOV with the removal. Another critical concern of mine is WP:LEAD. Further discussion should be held at Talk:Council on American–Islamic Relations, so that more people will notice and be able to contribute. Binksternet (talk) 15:26, 15 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Since I initiated that discussion on the Talk page, I would appreciate your contribution to it. I argued that including the second paragraph, and devoting more than a third of the article to this material, violates WP:NPOV. If you believe otherwise, could you share your reasons?
