Spirulina

edit

There is only one page with "Spirulina" as the title, and that is about the supplement. While there are two genera, one of which is Spirulina, there is no need to disambiguate it into "Spirulina (dietary supplement)" when the page can be about both (the common name is being used to describe something it may not be a species of).—Řÿūłóñģ (竜龍) 05:57, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spirulina again

edit

I noticed here that you introduced an edit that the French found spirulina 'at the lake' (Texcoco?) in the 1960's, without introducing a reference to support that. Would you like to go back and provide that reference? Otherwise, it's perfectly legit to remove the unsourced info. Thanks. 842U (talk) 14:29, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Spirulina again, again

edit

hi! i see you were the creator of the Spirulina (genus) page; having become confused about the relationship between Spirulina and Arthrospira, i did some reading, and it appears to me the former is outdated. If you would, have a look at the first couple pages in the first chapter of Spirulina Platensis (Arthrospira): Physiology, … (Hardcover) by Avigad Vonshak

(you can read them here: http://www.amazon.com/Spirulina-Platensis-Arthrospira-Cell-Biology-Biotechnology/dp/0748406743/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1284394847&sr=1-1#reader_0748406743)

Seems to me we should just delete the Spirulina (genus) page (it's kinda orphaned anyway) to reduce the confusion. Doceddi (talk) 16:42, 13 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

nevermind! i now understand things are more complicated, and will look into ways of fixing them .. Doceddi (talk) 09:55, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
