A few comments
- Make a pass to check for consistent reference to your name topic. It is sometimes "toxin", other times "toxins". When you say "They' in the second sentence, the referent is unclear, I think. Don't be averse to repeating the exact name in full more often.
- References to time should be more precise. Five years from now, "recent" will have a different meaning. As will "to this day". Don't speak of time in a relative way.
