License tagging for Image:Boxcar1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Boxcar1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Hi there, I posted a note on File:Quest-Couch-Interview.jpg asking for a source so we can verify the copyright status. If you grabbed the photo from a web site, we need to see if it's copyrighted. Hey there. Check out Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission, specifically the section entitled "When permission is confirmed". You'll want to upload the image to Commons rather than here, and then there is an email address where you can forward the photographer's permission. Remember that to be used here, they have to release the photo under an appropriate licence that allows derivative works and commercial re-use with attribution. If not, the image cannot be used here.
