Thanks edit

I appreciate your message very much. I wish I knew more about your country, and Islam, for my ignorance of both is profound, alas. What I know of Islam I have mostly gained from the writings of Karen Armstrong, and of the Sufi poet Rumi, whom I admire very much. Rumi's "Moses and the Shepherd" touches me very deeply, for though I have a PhD in physics and am a staff member in astronomy at one of the world's premier research universities (and agnostic religiously), yet in a a very profound sense I identify with that poor shepherd, who is simply awed by the vastness and mystery of the stage on which we find ourselves.

I must say also, that while I am proud and inspired by the great ideals that I still believe are the foundation and precious heart of the USA, I deeply regret and am ashamed at how fear, arrogance, and greed have corrupted our actions in recent years. The CIA's role in Iran in 1953 is a deep stain on our national honor, and our role in supporting the regime of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi before 1979 was indefensible and reasonable cause for the hostility and suspicion that many Iranians inevitably feel for the West in general and the USA in particular. I can only hope that with our new administration, better times and greater wisdom may govern us in the future. I expect the process will be slow and uncertain, for even the best of politicians cannot escape the realities of political power and the delicate balance between what they wish for and what can actually be achieved.

Yes, I am a life-long and passionate believer in human expansion into space, which I see as deeply analogous to the expansion of life out of the sea onto the land. The Earth is the cradle of humanity, and I hope that the problems we encounter here on this small globe will help to prepare us for a wiser and more noble role in the cosmos in the centuries to come.

I can be reached by e-mail at waw@ipac.caltech.edu if you want to send me something.

It seems you figured it out. I'm not sure what you used to nominate it, but some of the automated tools can malfunction at times. Just finishing the nomination by adding it to the AFD page was the correct thing to do. MrKIA11 (talk) 13:33, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mir-Hossein Mousavi edit

Hello. At time when Mir-Hossein Mousavi was Prime Minister Ahmadinejad was not President - Khamenei still was and Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was still a Supreme Leader Darth Kalwejt (talk) 11:37, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. The info box is about the current leaders. But even if you are referring to that time, then you added both Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and Ayatollah Ali khamenei as leader which is not true. At the time, only Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was leader. Kind regards--Parvazbato59 (talk) 15:31, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
