Crozier award

Yes, the talkpage for the Crozier award says that even though Ellis won the award, he's not listed, along with a few others. That's a notification specifically to ensure others do not delete the entries. Please repair your errors, and do not edit war at any time DP 09:44, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

My interpretation of what the notification means differs from yours. Though Backstrom is not listed in the NHL's official guide, he is credited on the Hockey Hall of Fame's website as winning it while the others, including Ellis, are not. Neither the NHL's official guide or the Hockey Hall of Fame's website acknowledge Ellis and the others as a winner of the award. My guess is hockeydb listed Ellis as a winner immediately after the season ended and assumed the award was still active. They did not correct the error by the time the awards ceremony came and went without presenting the award. I wonder if this is also true of the NHL Plus-Minus Award for that season - the HHOF website doesn't list Datysuk as a winner of that award either. (EDIT - The Red Wings media guide lists Datysuk as winning the award.) -- I also checked the Predators website since I figured the Predators would note such a win if it indeed happened - it would have been the first time a Predators player won a league award. Searching for Crozier returns two unrelated articles. Searching for Dan Ellis and reading through articles from April through June 2008 note no such win. --Parkfly3 (talk) 10:55, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

The Predators 2013-14 media guide lists the awards Predators have won in their history on page 236 and the Crozier Award is not listed. Neither does the 2008-09 Predators media guide on page 201. Add those to the Predators website and NHL.com not mentioning it and I have no reason to believe I am in error regarding this. --Parkfly3 (talk) 10:27, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for expanding the list of draft picks, but please do not indiscriminately remove red links as you did at List of Quebec Nordiques draft picks. A red link is useful to indicate that an article should be created for the topic because the subject is notable and verifiable. 1996 NHL Entry Draft

I am going to be forced to revert your edit for the second time but I am going to explain to you why I have to do this. The standard used on all NHL Entry Draft articles requires that editors use the city and team names where the franchise is located on the date of the event. In this instance because the relocation of the Winnipeg Jets to Phoenix was not complete until 9 days after the draft all selections made by the team at this event are considered to be made by Winnipeg and not Phoenix. If you also look at the Arizona Coyotes list of first round draft picks you will see that the same type of note is listed for both first round selections in 1996.

On a side note; when the Coyotes changed their name this offseason if the official change had occurred after the draft, all selections in the 2014 draft would have read Phoenix Coyotes instead of Arizona. Deadman137 (talk) 16:53, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

1) All references show the selections being made by the Phoenix Coyotes, not the Winnipeg Jets.

2) The YouTube video conclusively disproves the notion that the "selections of the future Phoenix Coyotes team were made under the Jets' name". The draft board quite clearly has Phoenix on it.

3) Since that is the case, the July 1, 1996 "official" date was apparently seen as merely a formality. Here are a few other sources that list them as the Phoenix Coyotes prior to July 1: [1], [2], [3] --Parkfly3 (talk) 21:15, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
