Great Essay!

edit

This is a great essay on explaining how "reliable sources" are not synonymous with "true sources" as obviously speaking, all forms of media, especially those based in the Western world have biases.

My one comment is that I would go as far as to argue that Wikipedia's own mechanism as defining what is and isn't a reliable source is flawed in the first place and can not be ameliorated without fundamentally changing its definition and rule-set in determining them. I consider it too harsh in associations with non-Western government entities (e.g. sources with some funding from the CCP or the Russian Government are viewed with extreme suspicion) while far too lenient with associations with corporations and sources of wealth (e.g. sources that are owned by Jeff Bezos are not unbiased reporting on the morality of billionaires). That being said, changing Wikipedia policy is a very difficult process and would take a very long time. HadesTTW (he/him • talk) 00:15, 11 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
