Welcome

edit

Tom Meijer, welcome to the Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you haven't already, it has more about contributing. I gather that you got the bit about signing your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); which automatically produces your name with a date/time stamp. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --Bejnar 02:35, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Pliocene - Pleistocene boundary

edit

Regarding your 27 March 2007 edit to the Early Pleistocene article, every geologist that I have talked to under the age of 40 about this seems to agree that the better date for the division between the Pliocene and the Pleistocene is the beginning of the Gelasian, and I also agree. But do you have any source that suggests that the language "Most climatologists and geologists" is more appropriate than "Some climatologists and geologists"? Are you aware of a split between climatologists and geologists on this issue? --Bejnar 02:35, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Needed articles

edit

Two articles that I think need to be written are Sicilian Stage and stratigraphic section. There is an article for the Tyrrhenian Stage, and the Calabrian Stage is covered in the Early Pleistocene article. Type section currents diverts to Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point, but that article itself relies upon the concept of what a stratigraphic section is. the article Stratigraphy is too general to do justice to a good exposition of what a stratigraphic section is. Anyway, things to think about. --Bejnar 02:50, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
