BLP violation

edit

You will notice that I have removed some allegations presented against the subject of the article Ansar Abbasi. Such allegations must adhere to the guideline for biographies of living persons. Specifically, the references which you had provided were blog posts which do not satisfiy Wikipedia's requirements for reliable sources. If notable media reports promulgate these accusations against Abbasi, you could try and add the information anew using those sources as reference. __meco (talk) 09:16, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have now added notable media reports to make this article bipartisan and neutral. The previous article was all praise for Abbasi while hiding his pro-Taliban activities in Pakistani media. [Pakistanteam]
I'm afraid that edit did not satisfactorily address the issues at hand so I have reverted it. If the Urdu page should be admitted in support of a possibly contentious allegation with WP:BLP relevancy, it should be able to check for non-Urdo readers, i.e. it must be translated into English, for instance on the article's talk page. Thus, I have reverted to previous version. Again, blogs are usually wholly inapplicable to support any contentious claims. __meco (talk) 14:19, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Meco, I think you are asking for too much by demanding that Urdu pages be translated. Previously you asked for valid no-blog references from media, which I provided e.g. from Daily Jang, the leading newspaper in Lahore. Hmmm...
I'm afraid I'm unable to concede on behalf of Wikipedia's policies. It's virtually impossible for the vast majority of contributors to check that Urdu article, so I suggest that translating it is your best chance of having any of these assertions included in the article. We're very conscientious when there are so-called BLP concerns, which there are in this case. __meco (talk) 15:55, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
