August 2014 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Shehzad Roy. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. SMS Talk 19:52, 4 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

I am not sure why I am being blocked. While writing biographies, the only citations one can find are newspaper/ magazine articles which are always written from someone's POV. So I am note not sure how I can be more neutral. Can you kindly unblock me and give me some USEFUL feedback on how to cite for biographies! PKRedits (talk) 06:29, 5 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

It is clear that you are abusing multiple accounts and abusing Wikipedia for promotional purposes. Furthermore, I believe you are in breach of our terms of use regarding making paid edits without disclosure. MER-C 09:00, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

This seems deeply unfair since I am not SRmanager! I created a wikipedia account because i was researching Shehzad Roy and realized how his wikipedia page did not mention his recent collaboration with Guns N' Roses. So I first read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tutorial and then added the portion to SRmanager's version. The wikipedia tutorial said nothing about vandalism, promotion and COIs etc so I edited the article citing from newspaper articles and also reverted repeatedly to SRmanager's version since I thought it was better than the stub before it. Instead of instructing me on how to make the article more neutral, you have blocked even though I asked how to improve my edits on the talk pages of Epeefleche and SmSarmad BEFORE I was blocked. I strongly urge you to unblock me and give me another chance to re-write the article with a neutral tone! Hope you will consider this request.PKRedits (talk) 19:49, 7 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • PK -- perhaps your block is in part related to the fact that you, a new editor, were created directly after another editor was indef blocked. And restored that editor's edits. Epeefleche (talk) 06:57, 5 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes I am a new editor but I do not know who SRmanager was- it was perhaps a coincidence. Shehzad Roy is a notable personality in Pakistan and deserves a proper page and I would like to create it. If you could offer some feedback, I can improve both my and SRmanager's edits to make sure they comply with all policies. Hence please unblock me and let me know how to cite for biographies without seeming biased? Thanks! PKRedits (talk) 07:41, 5 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • It does not look like a coincidence. Shehzad Roy rarely attracts edits from a new editor who has not edited the article before. And certainly rarely attracts "first edits" from a new editor who has not edited before. And that is even more the case where the new editor is tag-teaming the same additions added by an indef blocked editor. That the indef blocked editor had just added! Before being blocked. Nor, btw, does it appear to me that this editing under this name is your first wiki editing, though I could be wrong of course, as your editing indicates greater knowledge than that we see in a "true" new editor.
