Etale Fishing Company is a Namibian fishing company that is based in the coastal town of Walvis Bay. The company specializes in the catching, processing and promotion of a variety of seafood products with Hake being their main product. [1]


HISTORY

Etale is a private owned company that was founded in 1999. It has more than 800 employees working on the vessels as well as factory plant. It operates in the South East Atlantic Ocean, with the help of various fleet vessels and a factory plant that is located in Walvis Bay. The company uses different harvesting methods depending on the fish species but mainly uses the method of trawling in the harvesting of their main product hake. The factory plant is responsible for the cleaning, cutting and packaging of the final product. Etale has over the years built a strong network with a lot of countries around the world and thus makes it one of the largest fishing company in the world [2]

SCANDAL

In 2011,Etale Fishing company was involved in a scandal when it failed to pay it's quota fees to the government. This incident led the Namibian government to refuse Etale fishing company licenses to go back to sea.
