There are two definitions of Atheism. One simply states that an atheist is one with a lack of belief in god. The other definition says that atheism must be viewed as a belief itself, the belief that there is no god. Rather confusing indeed.

Note: Atheism is by definition the lack of belief in a God. In fact, it's very much worded like it.

a(meaning a lack of) theism (a religious belief) therefore atheism cannot be confused as anything other than a lack of religious belief.

Additionally, the idea that a lack of a belief is a belief system in itself is rather asinine, as one would have the say the lack of belief that dragons exist would be a belief system in itself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.78.128.45 (talk) 09:19, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
