Sally'sWorld: Hi all, I'm offline for the weekend. I've double-checked my translations so you can continue to work with them, frownieowl. :) Further suggestions are still welcome, though. :)
Hazelgilmore3344, I've found a website for Hundersingen which you could include in the info box: http://www.herbertingen.net/gemeinde-31.php.
Have a nice weekend :)

Homework for 30 Nov 2017:

  • clean up your own section (most urgent)
  • TeIemachos: Can you please include all the references from the German article into the English one?
  • Hazelgilmore: keep working on info box and pictures
  • Sally: include links and wikilinks
  • frownieowl: tidy up whole article, delete German parts etc.

Class on 30 Nov 17

edit

Hi all,
unfortunately I can't attend class this week. I've tried to do my best homework-wise but there's only so much that I can do while still waiting for the clean-ups to happen. I'll take another look tomorrow morning hoping some of you have been online by then to add a few more links etc. but I can't do anything after noon, I'm afraid.
I'm really sorry if this should mean any inconvenience in class.
Have a nice week :)

Changes

edit

Right, I guess timing is an issue (I'm not excluding myself - sorry, I've had technical and time management issues...). I've decided to just clean up the sections myself - I've incorporated suggestions - but I've also restructured the whole thing; I just felt that there were too many categories that were too short. Headings were also not unproblematic, I've thought about it so much by now (and looked up a lot of villages and cities on Wikipedia and their categories) that I'm a bit muddled. So maybe read through the whole article to see if it makes sense and if you're alright with my changes. If not, I'll definitely be online before class and I'll keep checking this page, or just change it. :)
I deleted the German parts as well as the comments, so if you need to look something up you'll have to look at the German article or the article history.
Sally, too bad you can't join us tomorrow! Is there anything you want us to mention? --frownieowl —Preceding undated comment added 23:52, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much, Frownieowl - and great job, too! I really like the new structure, it's very neat. Definitely an improvement. :)
I've added all the links I could think of. I've also tried working on the info box but that definitely needs some work. But at least now the picture actually shows Hundersingen. ;)
Since I won't be in class to help anymore: If you want me to (and don't want to do it yourselves) I'd be happy to put the page live tonight - at the moment there is a redirected page on Hundersingen so we'd only need to overwrite that and everything else should be fine. Also, as soon as our page is live I'd be happy to go through wikipedia and link to it whereever it might make sense so it's not an orphan anymore.
Have a great class tonight! :)

Refs

edit

Hey guys,

I incorporated every reference from the German article into our English one. However, especially with ref 6 there seems to be a problem. I will ask Kai whether he knows what happened and try to work on it. :) See yall later in class! :) TeIemachos (talk) 13:51, 30 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Things to work on

edit

Hey folks,

today, we decided to remove the linking of some phrases, especially German people, as we couldn't think of a reason for an English speaker to look up info on e.g. Joseph Cades in a German article. (does that sentence even make sense? :D ) We also talked about technical difficulties we faced. There is the infobox that needs to be re-done by copy pasting an infobox of an English town (from English Wikipedia) into our article because there seems to be some source-issues when copying a German infobox into an English source code. Also, there is still reference six left that needs to fixed.

Infobox

edit

Alright, the population issue in the infobox annoyed me, so I looked into it. I managed to change it a bit - it showed the population of Herbertingen. The thing is: the number is retrieved from the Statistisches Bundesamt via the Gemeindeschlüssel (Template:Population_Germany). Hundersingen itself has no Gemeindeschlüssel, so I've just removed the parameter completely and now the number should be correct! I also found this very helpful: Template:Infobox_German_location.
Maybe there's something in the template section to help with the references as well? However, I'm done for today... :)

References

edit

Hi there, I just spent some time trying to fix ref. 6 - I think I made it a little better but it's still not perfect yet. Going to bed now, though.. ;) I might take another look tomorrow unless one of you manages to fix it in the meantime. Good night :) Sally'sWorld (talk) 21:58, 30 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Ref. 6

edit

Ok, just spent another hour on ref. 6. There seems to be a bug in the template for this BibISBN, so I resorted to just referencing the source without any fancy templates and stuff. I made it look exactely the same as it should have done in the first place, though, so I don't think people will notice much. :)
Unless someone disagrees I'm going to put Hundersingen live on Sunday.
Have a good weekend :)

More references...

edit

I reread the article again, changed the date according to the website (size of the area) and added a few more references. I'd say it's ready to go online! :) Thanks for doing that, Sally, and have a good weekend, everyone!
--frownieowl (talk)
P.S.: I don't know if I'm the only one who didn't realise but I've just discovered the "cite" button above the edit box where you can choose templates and just add the information in a new window which then generates the citation?! Maybe it's just me... 0:)

It's up and running

edit

Hey all,
our page on Hundersingen is now up and running. If there is anything you would like to change or improve please don't do it here but on the live page from now on.
Have a good week!
