New article

Hi, I have downloaded a number of important Cultural revolution original documents, I think they should be included into zh:wikisource. Please have a look:User:Arilang1234/Sandbox/Ten thousand words letters. As you have more experience in zh:wikisource than I have, I am seeking your advice. Arilang ^talk 17:06, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Startaffinity

Thanks for uploading Image:Biber salçası.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You've commented on the image description page:

If you would look at the talk page of the article, you will find that someone mentioned they would take a picture of it last December. Well, it's May, and no one has bothered to upload a "free" one, and I find it unlikely (unreasonable) to assume that a Turkish food would be uploaded on a English wiki (disclaimer: I have no clue on turkish foods, taken off of talk page). I searched the turkish wiki, and I didn't find an exact article name match. I used creative commons search ([1]), and nothing showed up either. The image, as stated, does not violate fair use, and I personally fail to see why wikipedia is so stringent against fair use when there is no free one readily available (WP:RAP, WP:IAR). The image satisfies the other nine requirements, and is encyclopedic. The image is promotional in nature, as it was taken off a site selling it, so it doesn't harm the intended purpose of the image taker. However, I will respect the inevitable deletion, because hypothetically, any wikipedia could take a picture of it, despite the unlikelihood of such an occurrence. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 20:34, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

The reason that WP:NFCC#1 includes the phrase "could be created" is that the presence of a non-free image acts to reduce the likelihood that a free equivalent will be created. We are more likely to get a free photo if the article is clearly missing an illustration. There is even a tag, {{reqphoto}}, which can be placed on an article's talk page to specifically request a photograph. Remember, the goal of Wikipedia is to be an encyclopedia of free content, and non-free images such as this one do not further that goal. —Bkell (talk) 20:43, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, but in doing so, material is removed from the article for an indefinite amount of time that contributes to the article. I believe that it harms more than it helps, however, I respect wikipedia policy, as I said earlier, which is why I did not use the dispute tag. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 20:56, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
