Suggestion

edit

It might be more useful to, at the top of the columns, link to the b'crats promotion logs, as opposed to just their user pages. So you chould quickly see who they promoted. Just a thought. --W.marsh 13:45, 18 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good idea. Btw, people should feel free to edit my subpages to improve or update them (They are always in need of updating with the latest data :-P, and I can always revert if I disagree). NoSeptember talk 13:57, 18 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Is there a better way to link to the log than like this? --W.marsh 14:14, 18 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I've always wondered that myself. With some links you can use [[Special: ]], but I don't know in this case. Also see the fix that Col. Hauler did to a template I created. I'm sure someone knows. NoSeptember talk 14:48, 18 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Once I figure out how to add it cleanly, I will do it :-) --W.marsh 18:02, 18 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
No 'clean' way to do it (Special:Log/rights only links to the general log for all rights), the best way to do it currently is by changing the color of the link in a span and putting it in a "plainlinks" class object (as per the template edits he did, like this). See: Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#User_templates_css.3F for a possible 'clean' way, that doesn't seem to have much chance of acceptance here ^_^ Splarka (rant) 22:56, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well template:admin has now been restructured with clean links, I'm sure that format will work here. NoSeptember talk 12:37, 26 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Include?

edit

Hi, NoSeptember. I don't know if you missed this one or if it was left out on purpose, which is why I'm pointing this out here instead of adding it to the page at once (your user subpage, your call): on July 24, Danny set rights for Essjay as boardvote from the Meta-Wiki (confirmation log from Meta). Cheers, Redux 17:11, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the comment. I'm only tracking en-wiki bureaucrat actions here, not steward actions. For the record User:PMA was resysopped this year by a steward instead of being done here, and of course other desysoppings and resysoppings have been done by stewards at other times, none of them are listed here. Also, see User:NoSeptember/Functionaries where I do have Essjay listed as boardvote. NoSeptember 12:35, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Note: I track Steward actions to keep User:NoSeptember/admincount, User:NoSeptember/Functionaries and User:NoSeptember/Desysop up to date. There is a bunch of hidden text at User:NoSeptember/admincount as I have been calculating the number back through history (click edit to see what is there). NoSeptember 21:17, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Note: while this page does not track steward actions on the meta rights log, I have created User:NoSeptember/enwiki on the meta log to make it easier to look up those actions. NoSeptember 13:02, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Stats

edit

Although mentioned as a table header, it seems unfair to label only promotions as 'crat statistics. We also close failed nominations. Bot and renames could also be included in the stats here. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:23, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good point, I added a new section (though currently without any data). NoSeptember 19:24, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Looks like it disappeared at some point. The same comment could be made about the various flavours of rename. --Dweller (talk) 14:27, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Early history

edit

Might be worth noting that originally, there were no admins. The first admin was a single account with a password shared among trusted individuals. Wikipedia:WikiProject on Adminship/Role of admins The Uninvited Co., Inc. 21:57, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

July 2008 update?

So when does this page update? :) =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:00, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Summer 2008 renames

edit

Does anyone know why there was such a sudden and shortlasting spike in renames in June/July 2008? --Dweller (talk) 11:37, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's when SUL was brought in. We had a large increase in requests as established users on other projects created global accounts and then requested to usurp accounts here that they did now own (or had forgotten the password to) and had no edits. A similar spike in March 2007 represents WP:USURP being created. WJBscribe (talk) 15:29, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
That makes sense, thanks. --Dweller (talk) 08:20, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Repeated line of names

edit

I went thru and duplicated the line of 'crat names in all three tables; with the extremely length of some of the tables, it was damn near impossible to keep track of which column was which editor.

It also serves as a more attractive break between the monthly stats and the yearly, which is just a pleasant side-effect of the edit. :) EVula // talk // // 17:13, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Math

edit

I just added the Dec 08 promotions which was simple enough. Now I need to update all the totals. Would it not be better if there was some sort of mathematical equation in the totals so they update automatically? It's incredibly tedious. Majorly talk 13:16, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think that's why so many people thought a Bot would be a good idea! Honestly, the tables are so large and clunky, anyone who has updated them has my gravest admiration. --Dweller (talk) 14:24, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, adding the new numbers in for each new month isn't at all difficult. It's just finding which totals to update and when. Maybe if the table was reorganised so it was obvious which number corresponded with which bureaucrat it would be easier. Currently having it in columns makes it difficult to see which column is which as you go down the table. Having it in rows will be easier. Majorly talk 14:44, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've asked MBisanz about a bot but not heard from him yet. Perhaps a post on WP:BAG should be made. Hats off to anyong helping here. RlevseTalk 21:45, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
