You can't just copy and paste from somebody's website to turn into a Wikipedia page. The article needs to be written in your own words and have references, independent of Andy's website, to back it up. If you persist in recreating the article in the way that you are doing, you risk being banned from Wikipedia. NtheP (talk) 21:36, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Writing an article that will stick.

edit

Got your message. First things first don't recreate the Andy Saunders article again for the time being but instead start it in you own userspace e.g. User:Ninjakins/Andy Saunders - just click on this link to create the page, then save it. If you want to use material from http://andysaunders.tumblr.com/ then please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials on how to label the website appropriately. However I wouldn't suggest that as a way to go. As ScottyBerg says Andy probably does meet the notability criteria and merits an article about him. Have a look at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons about how to write an article about a living person. The most important thing to do is to have references that back up what you say but these need to be independant of Andy and his publishers e.g. a press release from Grub Street isn't valid but a review of a book in a national or regional newspaper would be valid. This isn't to prove he wrote the book but to establish that the book is consdered a reputable work.

Concentrate on him and why his books are considered good but avoid it coming over like an advert i.e. don't use anything like this paragraph from his website "Andy Saunders is available to consider commissions by broadcasters, TV and film production companies and publishers. He will act as writer, researcher or provide a service to help develop scripts etc. He is also available give illustrated talks and is also available to take on private research projects for clients." - that is just promotional.

Take a look at articles about other writers e.g. people in Category:British military historians and model your article on them. Most start with a biography before moving onto their works.

If you need a hand, just leave a note on my talk page or at WP:Help. There are loads of people willing to help you out but you just need to make sure that you stick to the few basic policies. NtheP (talk) 22:27, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Andy Saunders

edit

I have made a few modification to your article to show you how to add references from third parties. Andy Saunders is absolutely notable as author, so don't get scared by mr. Berg. He acts as a slasher, in official terms he is a deletionist who tries to get as many articles as possible out of the encyclopedia. Especially articles from non-American subjects have the interest for his flogging... Night of the Big Wind talk 23:22, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have added a few more references. I keep an eye on it and you can give a shout for help if uou need one. I am interested in the Second World War myself. I have translated the articles Willem Pieter Landzaat and Military War Cemetery Grebbeberg and written a couple of articles about Canadian Generals of WW2. In real life, I have speeched at Memorial Day at the graves of four English airman, buried in Groningen. Unfortunately, an uncle fell victim on the American bombardment on Schiphol in 1943. Keep up the good work. Night of the Big Wind talk 00:16, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • @Night of the Big Wind: The notability of Andy Saunders is not in doubt, and this editor was asked, more than once, to not re-create the article by copying from the website, and reminding him again (in what I see was an edit conflict with Nthep) is not "biting." You been asked to not attack other editors, and I see that you just received a block warning for the comment that you made at the top of this section. For the guidance of this editor I have placed a menu of links at the top of this page. (I just removed the menu of links, as I see that one was previously left at the top of the page and was removed by this user.) ScottyBerg (talk) 13:53, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
