Peter Hitchens

Miamomimi, you have used the word "neo" on the subjects talk page, whereas I assume you mean "Nero". Since it is not wikietiquette to modify other peoples comments on talk pages, I have not changed it, but thought you should know. Feel free to remove this message if you do not wish it to be on public display longer than neccessary.

BTW, a while ago online there was a genuinely worthwhile book review by Francesca Klug on "A Brief History of Crime", which I can no longer find. You might be better able to track down and cite the print source than I am, if you wish. Philip Cross 10:42, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the book review Philip, I'll ferret. Actually I did mean 'Neo' - from the film The Matrix, hence the martial arts connection - Neo is the character that is trying to save us all which was the reviewers point about Peter Hitchens. Miamomimi 11:38, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Serious mental slip, the review was actually by Frances Crook in the New Humanist and is here Will add to the Hitchens article. Philip Cross 13:34, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for popping by to tell me. On second reading of your initial comment I thought 'Nero' was quite funny - Hitchens fiddling while Rome burns. It would be even funnier if Rome wasn't actually burning. Miamomimi 13:47, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I just thought I would stop by to make sure you have not used the word (I can barely bring myself to type it) "cr*p" (the missing letter is an "a"). You haven't. Good. Because if you did, I can assure you that you would soon degenerate into a mindless villian with a passion for smashing broken beer bottles into the faces of random civilians. I had to be sure. But you have been warned.
Only fooling around.
Peter Hitchens is a comical fellow. I think he often sabotages his own efforts to encourage social conservatism by coming across like the ultimate puritan, someone who makes Mary Whitehouse seem like a "right on" hippy/liberal/anarchist icon in comparison. He probably alienates even some conservative-leaning readers when he gets on a soap-box about the "corrupting influence" of Lady Chatterley's Lover or minor swear words that haven't been taboo for about 50 years. Ah well. How do you reason with a true believer? -Neural 16:02, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
So funny, you have a good sense of humour Neural. Sadly I don't think there's a hidden agenda with Peter Hitchens. But yeah, he's a scream. Miamomimi 17:25, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
