From Prof. Mc: Nhat, You've really done a remarkable job of developing this entry--well done! There are a few elements though to consider revising as you move forward:

  • it's very important to add links to other Wikipedia entries. For example, in the first sentence you'd create links for Byzantine, Orthodox Church, and Cyprus. Likewise, once you entry goes live, you'll also want to add links back to your entry for other relevant entries so people can find your information
  • In the History section: maybe instead of "unknown to historians" part you could have something like "the date and circumstances of the building of the Church remain uncertain..." Also, why the phrasing "possibly painted" whereas in the Virgin section below it is written as if it is definite Theodore A was the painter? Another small detail is that the phrase is "Constantinopolitan-trained"
  • Virgin section: Some of parts of this are matters of interpretation, which is fine to include, but the source should be cited for these specific points. What I'm thinking of is the sentence beginning "Images of the Virgin..." and the later sentence with the phrase "could be interpreted..."
  • Sophocleos isn't in your sources, but is mentioned as the source of a quote
  • Overall though you do a great job of using quotations carefully, and I love it that you included the full prayer text--really enriched the full sense of text and image. Also, it's impressive that you took the time to include Greek text and carefully proofread it.
  • Preservation section: since you discuss the Winfields work in more detail here, no need to mention it in the top section, too.
  • you've written such a thorough, well-researched entry, but a few images would make it even stronger. When I did a Google search for "Panagia arakos," etc it looked like there were a few images already in Wikimedia Commmons that you could pull over to your entry.

Nhat,

I really enjoyed your article. It is clear that you thoroughly researched the topic! I think you should add some pictures of the church. It would really help readers to get a better understanding of the layout of the church. Also, you might want to add links to some of the more notable places and figures in your article. Adding links to other Wikipedia entries can help your readers to further understand the context of the artwork. For instance, your article references notable figures like John the Baptist, Saint Simeon, and Alexios I Kommenos. Adding a link to their Wikipedia pages might be a good idea. This is something I need to work on as well. Overall I think you did an excellent job!
