Electoral Commisson of Namibia (ECN)

The Electoral Commission is a body that was founded in 1992 under the electoral act of 1992. The aim of the commission is to oversee all electoral activities starting from voter registtration, political party registration to the actual voting/elections, coumting of ballots and making results available.

Leadership

The ECN leadreship is made up of a Chairperson and four Commissioners all of which are selected or chosen by the president of Nmibia His Excellency President Hifikepunye Pohamba. Notemba Ngavirue is the current chairperson of the ECN, while Moses Ndjarakana is the CEO.

Functions of Electoral Commisson of Namibia

The ECN comprise the subsequent functions (Electoral Act, 1992, 4(2)):

To direct, organize and supervise elections practically without bias.

To record voters.

To gather and publish voters turn round.

To register political parties.

To take charge of and promote voter instruction on elections (This comprise the official approval of voter instructor save for political parties. perceive Electoral Act 1992, 47A, 47D).
