Duplicate images uploaded

NPOV and attributions needed

Hello. About verifiability, you really should see WP:NPOV#Attributing_and_substantiating_biased_statements, and WP:V. And please do not delete {{Fact}} or {{Who}}, they are mandatory parts of Wikipedia'a policy on verifiability. Edits such as these [1][2] are simply not accepted on Wikipedia, whoever makes them.

Alternatively, for a crash course on sourcing and removing POV or WP:PEACOCK and WP:WEASEL, you could have a look at how I reworked your POV/unsourced article about Necdet Yaşar, starting with the diff link to my first edit, observing the edit summary and the diff, and then use the "Newer edit →" link under the edit summary so as to see the 14 commented steps that followed. Probably 20–30 minutes of reading, but more visual than a lot of abstract Wikipedia guides, for a start.

• I am an ethnomusicologist specializing in Turkish music and have published extensively about Turkish music in English and Turkish, including for the Garland Encyclopedia of World Music. I worked extensively with Necdet Yaṣar in Turkey for years, invited him to America in 1972, and met with him as recently as 2006 in Istanbul. I haven't published anything about him yet in English but I'm as qualified as anyone to write an encyclopedia article about him in English. I could pick some half-baked Turkish publication to cite but that seems a little absurd. What do you advise? Neyzenhasan (talk) 22:27, 1 January 2008 (UTC).

Turkish Musical instruments

• • Darbuka: Cinuçen Tanrıkorur lists darbuka as an instrument in Ottoman music as a whole as he didn't see a division between folk and palace music. Read the article cited.

The Wikipedia page is concerned with Ottoman classical music. Please read Tanrıkorur's article again; he lists all instruments in many genres, only one of which is Ottoman classical music. He lists darbuka as belonging to dance music, not classical. Neither in Ottoman classical music nor in today's classical ensemble would the listener expect to find darbuka.Neyzenhasan (talk) 03:06, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Within the scope of Turkish classical music comes neo-classical music (the music of more modern times) and no need for a confusing swap around of terms, because classical Turkish and Turkish classical can mean the same thing - irrelevant of whether the term was first coined to separate Western modes of classicism in music. 62.12.71.145 10:27, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

The two terms were established to distinguish between two radically different genres----one Western, the other oriental. "Turkish classical music" (Türk Klâsik Müziği) refers to Western music (Bach, Mozart, etc.) played by Turks. "Classical Turkish Music" (Klâsik Türk Mûsîkîsi) refers to the repertoire and styles related to the Ottoman court and the Mevlevi, an "oriental" music. At this point I suppose these terms might be considered "original research" by Wikipedia standards since it's something known by Turkish music specialists and musicians but not easily citable. I'll try to find a scholarly citation. In the meantime, I will add a note to that article, clarifying the distinction. Neyzenhasan (talk) 16:03, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

My mistake. Klâsik Türk Mûsîkîsi (Osmanlı Mûsîkîsi, Saray Mûsîkîsi, San'at Mûsîkîsi) is the correct Turkish term for classical Turkish music descended from Ottoman court music of the 17th through 19th centuries. But Klâsik Batı Müziği is the correct term for Western classical music. Neyzenhasan (talk) 21:29, 1 January 2008 (UTC).

Turkish Wikipedia has a translation of an article on Karl Signell ported over from English Wikipedia. I recall seeing the English article several months ago but it seems to have vanished without a trace. Nothing in Deletions.Neyzenhasan (talk) 15:10, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

There doesn't seem to be anything in the logs about it. Nor can I see any markings on the Turkish article to indicate that it was taken from English Wikipedia. The Turkish article was created in June of 2006. There is no record of a Karl Signell article on English Wikipedia, at least not under that name. Could it have been under another name?--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 15:39, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Newsroom v. The Hour

Your edit regarding the comparability of Newsroom and The Hour has been reverted. You completely misrepresent what the source says -- she notes the two are in a newsroom and the comparison ends there. The rest is unsourced and/or POV. Please be careful to abide by our policy of verifiability and refrain from inserting your own point of view into what you write. You might also consider that The Hour isn't exactly original either; there have been any number of films and television series on the topic of TV news. As your source says, the two take place in a newsroom, and the resemblance ends there. You can't assume that because you see parallels between the two (and they're a stretch) that the writers of the series intended them to be there. --Drmargi (talk) 19:48, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
