Here are a few links you might find helpful:

You can sign your name on talk pages and votes by typing ~~~~; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date.

If you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page. Or, please come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Adoption

edit

Hi Newbee. I noticed you placed an adoption template on both my [1], and User:ReverendG's [2] user pages. The template actually suggests you will be adopting us, when infact, I expect you would actually like to be adopted! You need not worry about these templates, and experienced editor will come along soon to adopt you and they will sort out the correct templates for you. Normally, I would be happy to adopt you myself, but I already have two adoptees and would rather not surpass that number at the moment. Perhaps User:ReverendG may choose to adopt you or, i'm sure, another experienced editor will oblige soon. Anyway, happy editing and do let me know if I can be of further assistance. Hello Newbee. In response to your message: "No, I will not block you". Everyone makes honest mistakes, so please don't worry about it. As long as you learn as you go along and take advice when it is offered, you will be fine. Here is the first bit of advice for you. When you write messages on your talk page, or that of others, type four tildes: ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your text and your name and the date will automatically appear. This helps other editors know who they are communicating with. Rockpocket 07:42, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello

Hello and welcome! I'm not a member of 'adopt-a-user', but I would be glad to offer you any assistance you need until you find an adopter, just send me a message here if you need any help. I am on at all sorts of odd hours so I should respond fairly fast. Ask any questions you like. User:Pedant 01:17, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Glad to help however you need it. First advice is to always sign your comments using ~~~~ (four tilde symbols), the tilde is (the upper case symbol on)the key above your tab key on most keyboards, and using 4 tildes, you get a signature and timestamp: User:Pedant 05:04, 3 December 2006 (UTC) or using 3 of them, just a signature: User:Pedant ... 5 will get you just a timestamp:User:Pedant 05:04, 3 December 2006 (UTC) signing with 4 tildes should get to be a habit, on talk pages, when leaving messages etc., everywhere but inside an article. That makes it easy for other editors to follow up on your commentsReply

What kind of help do you think you need? User:Pedant 05:04, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

What type of articles are you interested in working on, or what type of things would you like to do to help Wikipedia become a better encyclopedia? User:Pedant 05:13, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, let me know if you need any help... I'll keep an eye on your contributions, and give any advice I can think of, let me know if you need help finding how to do something, or any questions at all.

These pages might be useful, but don't worry about studying everything, just get started... if you go too far wrong, someone will be sure to mention it, either nicely or not. Here;s the useful pages I can think of: Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia, Wikipedia:Five pillars, Wikipedia:Citing sources

Good luck, and thanks for joining the project! User:Pedant 06:18, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi again

Just wanted to remind you about WP:BOLD, and encourage you to start editing. You might try reading some random article and checking for mistakes, or edit your own user page to tell other editors a little bit about yourself.

Once you get started, it becomes easier with each new edit. User:Pedant 18:18, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
