Queensbury Tunnel edit

Hi Neville Hill. First off, well done on the article - you beat me to it (it was on my to do list). Thanks for correcting Eastern Portal to Southern Portal for the coordinates. However, in the "After closure" paragraph you have stated "In July 1969, an early prototype of an invar wire strainmeter was installed in Queensbury Tunnel as part of research by a team of scientists from the University of Cambridge into Earth strain". I have bolded the word invar as you will need to either wikilink to an explanation or expand on what it is. I haven't a clue what it is and if you take me as the lowest common denominator, then there are lots of other people who will not know what one is either.

Additionally, for the non-url references, page numbers are required please. Thanks for the article though, I love it. Regards. The joy of all things (talk) 09:08, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

PS - If you wish to respond, please do so here as I am watching the page and it keeps the thread of the conversation in one place. Regards. The joy of all things (talk) 09:09, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi there. Thanks for your feedback. I have added a link with regards to "invar". Pages numbers have been included within the references, where relevant/available. Some of the references are sourced generally from a report - rather than quoting any specific page - and the archive newspaper articles are available to me only with the date and title of the publication. I hope this improves things. Regards, Neville Hill. 14:13, 8 November 2017 (GMT)
It does! I have entered OCLC numbers where appropriate and regarding the archived newspapers, if you have them, please insert the titles and I will add the ISSN numbers. This makes the verifiability of the citations clearer and authentic. If we do not do this, then the article will be tagged as needing repair and appear on this list [1]. Regards (and thanks). The joy of all things (talk) 14:23, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I have added two further PDF links within the References. In terms of the newspaper titles, I believe all of them are already stated. Regards. Neville Hill. 14:39, 8 November 2017 (GMT)

Problem with your custom signature edit

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
