Merged to Talk:A Canterbury Tale

WP:ARCHA edit

Hi, noticed your new WikiProject and assessment {{WPCAS}}. I've been putting lots of the most important castles into the architecture wikiproject. But with this new sub-project, maybe there needs to be some reconsideration. Do you consider Chateau and Palace to be castles too? Do you want every castle to include the template? Encourage you to look into using the Bot people to help tag articles. All the best, --Dogears (talk contribs) 20:14, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks, I've continued this discussion on the project's talk page, where it's attracted some more comment that might interest you. Neddyseagoon - talk 15:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Translation for temple of Apollo Sosianus edit

I don't know the use in english: about the name, shouldn't it be "Apollus (latin) instead of "Apollo" (italian)?

No, Apollo is Apollo in all languages. Neddyseagoon - talk 08:39, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

About capitals, I don't think "composite" capitals is the right translation of "capitelli 'corinzieggianti' ": in italian a composite capital is a "capitello composito": that means a capital with ionic upper part over a corinthian under part with acanthus and not a corinthian capital with some differences in structure, as "capitello corinzieggiante" is.

Ah, right, so what is the correct translation of corinzieggianti ? Neddyseagoon - talk 08:39, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I know quite well name in italians, but I don't remember the right translation in english. user MM on it.wiki (84.253.136.132 05:37, 9 January 2007 (UTC))Reply

St Giles in the Fields edit

Nice work Neddy [1] - could you put a note on the talk page as to where the info was merged from. Cheers. --Mcginnly | Natter 13:56, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Via Traiana Nova edit

I´m extending the german article de:Sinai (Halbinsel) and I used your information about the Via Traiana Nova. I thought that this road was stretching from Heliopolis to Aqaba and further. Now, I´m not sure anymore. I now think that the Via Traiana Nova starts or ends in Aqaba and the road to Heliopolis has an other name, which I did not know so far. What do you think? --80.135.28.176 16:11, 14 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Regarding the article Ash (near Sandwich) - you have edited, have you got any green idea about the origin of the name?

Nice going edit

Good to see some work on the National Museum of Rome and related articles - thanks!!! -- User:RyanFreisling @ 21:45, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not a lot, admittedly (haven't been to Rome for longer than I'ld care to mention), but whenever I bumble across an image from it when doing something else, I plonk it in here. :-) Neddyseagoon - talk 21:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Category:Roman helmets edit

I nominated this category for merge into 'Roman armour'...the galea was the only entry in the category. Wanted to give you a heads-up since you created the category...the discussion is here. Cheers - RJASE1 01:22, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

oops, thought that was the review board, sorry! Neddyseagoon - talk 14:41, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • You have not completed the nomination process. Please see the project page for the details. Additionally, may I ask you not to mark all of your edits as minor? Many editors have their preferences set so as not to see minor edits on their watch list. Jeffpw 14:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cheers! — Geo Swan 05:53, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Insular edit

Hi. Glad to see you have stubbed-up this. I wonder if the Insular period would not be better off as "Insular art". I've not seen it used in reference to a general historical period, as opposed to a period in art history. Obviously with Insular period as a redirect, but apart from anything it would save disam-ing more links. Crude google counts: "Insular art" = 10,600; "Insular period" = 267 - some talking about " The long insular period during the upper eocene and miocene times will, therefore, be the period of specific change in the moas, while the older pliocene ..." or the Ming dynasty etc, & the rest about manuscripts. I can see insular period is often used when just scripts are being discussed, but that can be covered in the lead para.

Castles in North America edit

Hi, I'm a new user and I recently did some searching on castles, and noticed that you created the page Category:Lists of castles in North America. I was wondering if I could add Mexico to the list...it only has the U.S. as of now...I wasn't quite sure how to do it though..haha...I tried ;]. If you could maybe add Mexico, I'd be greatful. I wanted to add Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City. It is the only castle in the Americas that was actually occupied by Royalty...the Emperor Maximilian of Mexico and his consort Empress Carlota. Thank You for your help! --C.Kent87 04:17, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

nice map edit

Nice map of old Romano-Britain; it’s very clear. Am very interested in maps showing features of pre- and Roman Britain. Helps me imagine the places. More, talking with people who are on the ground and/or who have more knowledge than myself. I want to understand that era and its dynamics.

Thanks for such a nice map.

Peer review request - Campaign history of the Roman military‎ edit

Hi mate, bumped into one another in a few articles on ancient Rome - I have requested a peer review of the above article prior to self-nominating for featured article status. The peer review is located here - if you could spare the time to give me some feedback and ideas for improvement I would be very grateful. Many thanks - PocklingtonDan 21:30, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
