CBE or higher edit
Thanks for the list, Necrothesp, actually quite useful. Perhaps you could also link to what you mean when you write "CBE or above", perhaps your own userspace essay on this? Because there doesn't seem to be a general agreeement on what constitutes "CBE or higher", at the moment. Cheers. Pilaz (talk) 00:39, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Pilaz: There doesn't need to be an agreement on Wikipedia. It's simple fact in the real world. The CVO, CIE, CMG, CSI, CB, CH, OM and all honours that grant a title are all higher than the CBE. Period. I'm only including British honours here, of course. Comparing honours from different countries is well nigh impossible. -- Necrothesp (talk) 22:34, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
- So it's just your opinion? Pilaz (talk) 22:48, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, adding to this because I think I wasn't clear in my wording: is there a real world cross-order comparison or ranking of honorifics? Pilaz (talk) 07:51, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Pilaz: Yes, that was my point! There is a very clear "real world" ranking of British honours, as I have said above. It is not my opinion. It is a fact. See the last paragraph of Orders of precedence in the United Kingdom: recipients are ranked in order of level of honour, and within that by rank of the order. So, from lowest to highest, all the members (MBE, MVO), then all the officers and lieutenants (OBE, LVO), then all the commanders and companions (CBE, CVO, CIE, CMG, CSI, CB), then all the knights and dames commanders (KBE/DBE, KCVO/DCVO, KCIE, KCMG/DCMG, KCSI, KCB/DCB) and finally all the knights and dames grand cross/commander (GBE, GCVO, GCIE, GCMG, GCSI, GCB). Knights Bachelor come between CBs and KBEs, CHs come between KCBs and GBEs, OMs come between GCSIs and GCBs. It is only MBEs, MVOs, OBEs and LVOs who we haven't always held to be notable per WP:ANYBIO #1. -- Necrothesp (talk) 08:53, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

- I sort of gave up on that list. Note that baronets and people with courtesy titles aren't peers. -- Necrothesp (talk) 22:37, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
- Noted for baronets, I keep confusing them with barons... Also fyi, I started a tentative list at User:Pilaz/List of peer-related AfD discussions. Feel free to leave feedback if you want. Pilaz (talk) 22:51, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
