Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Opera (web browser), and I noticed that your username, "MyOperaCom", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87". Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a username change that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.

There is no such website anymore. My goal is to clean references to it. After that the account will be deleted. MyOperaCom (talk) 20:59, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Just because the website doesn't exist anymore doesn't automatically mean that all references to it should be wiped from Wikipedia. DJAMP4444 (talk) 22:26, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
They are not being wiped. MyOperaCom (talk) 23:08, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Still your username violates Username policy and you risk being blocked for it. I strongly recommend changing it :-) ♥ Solarra ♥ ♪ 話 ♪ ߷ ♀ 投稿 ♀ 22:36, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I repeat what the above have strongly advised - Either change your username or face being blocked!, Edits such as this [1] are proving controversial, I appreciate your intentions may be good but as stated your username isn't!, Cheers, →Davey2010→→Talk to me!→ 22:54, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Could you please explain what is wrong with the edit? MyOperaCom (talk) 23:08, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Your adding the website that's clearly the same as your username ..... →Davey2010→→Talk to me!→ 23:16, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
You must have been mistaken. I added link to Archive.org because site my.opera.com is closed. MyOperaCom (talk) 23:20, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I suppose that my editing hardly can be called "promotional" because the website the username could represent has been closed 2 months ago. The username represents a maintenance task which reflects the website shutdown.

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I feel I should point out that we have no technical means to delete accounts, and even if we did the stipulations of our licensing (CC-By-SA and GFDL) forbid us from doing so anyways. I would still change your name - if for no other reason than if you end up wanting to come back at a later date. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 04:23, 2 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
