Hi again Mark, just a little more detail. When you have ideas on editing an article, and you want to solicit discussion, you can discuss sections you propose on the article's talk page. You can also be bold and edit the actual article - but if people keep changing it back, then work with them.
Also, something to note, one shouldn't cite themselves in an article. That's usually a conflict of interest, and should be avoided in almost every case.
And finally, even if you wrote the piece you're quoting, if it has a copyright (that you do not own), then you cannot use more than a small excerpt as allowable by the fair use doctrines and laws. Even if you hold the copyright, you cannot exceed such unless you release the material into the public domain.
