Lindy Electronics

edit

Hi there - yes of course it could be reinstated (assuming that this firm meets Wikipedia's inclusion policy for companies - you should read this first to avoid wasted effort), however, it's tricky.

It wouldn't be sufficient for Lindy Electronics to say that they allow Wikipedia to use this text - they have to be willing to release the text so that anyone can use it for any purpose. This would include commercial purposes, purposes that would be derogatory to Lindy Electronics, and altering the text as they see fit before republishing it. In practice, few businesses seem willing to make these allowances (for reasons that should be obvious).

If they are willing to do this, they should provide a message on the relevant page(s) of their website to indicate that all the text is available to be freely reproduced and modified. This may conveniently be done by stating that it is released under the GFDL or CC-BY licence.

With such a message displayed on the site, then yes, Wikipedia would be able to use the text as well. It's usually less hassle to write a new article in your own words though.

Finally, if you are an owner, employee, agent, contractor, or have any other affiliation with Lindy Electronics, you should read and understand the Conflict of Interests policy before creating an article about the firm.

If you've got any questions, or if I can be of further help, please feel free to drop me another note. Cheers! --Rlandmann (talk) 19:35, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your upload of File:Actiance logo.gif or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
