100 Most Influential Americans

I have deleted this article for being a copyright violation. Please do not repost it. -- Merope 16:33, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry; I had hoped that you had read this before I deleted it again. (I'm a little on edge today--I'll probably end up taking a break from editing because of it.) The text of the article (or, at the very least, the list itself) is lifted from The Atlantic Monthly and thus violates our copyright policies. We can only have original work submitted that people agree to license under the GFDL. If you disagree with this deletion, you may request a deletion review. -- Merope 16:38, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Atlantic Monthly publishes articles. They spent a lot of time and effort compiling those articles. They copyright those articles. We can't legally reprint them. Fan-1967 16:39, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, even the list itself is copyrighted. We can't print someone else's work without permission. Fan-1967 16:41, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Final warning

You recently created an article called Think Big (book). It has been deleted for being a copyright violation (I was able to find the exact text here. This is your final warning: do not copy and paste material and post it to Wikipedia. Doing so again will result in an indefinite block. -- Merope 17:14, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to Ben Carson (here) are a wholesale text dump from http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/page/car1bio-1 . Please stop doing this. Fan-1967 17:23, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Think Big

edit

Typing out material from a book is still a copyright violation. (A pretty flagrant one, I might add.) Do not add anything to Wikipedia that is not your own work. Anything that has been copied from another source will be deleted, and persisting in doing this will result in your being blocked from editing. -- Merope 16:07, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Think Big

edit

If you took words directly from the introduction of the book, then look inside the front cover of the book. It's copyrighted, isn't it? Then we can't use it. You really, really need to understand this: Don't copy anything from anywhere. Wikipedia does not want copies of other people's material. Fan-1967 16:10, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you want to write an article about the book, then do so. You can say that such-and-such book was written by such-and-such dude, published in this year, and is about this topic. You can then explain, in your own words, that the concept of the book is based on an acronym. However, before doing any of this, you need to think about whether or not the book is notable. The page I linked you to is just a guideline, but it can help you in determining whether the article's subject merits inclusion in an encyclopedia. -- Merope 16:14, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
You need to describe the material in your own words. Copying other content is not acceptable. Fan-1967 16:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Rev. Hezekiah Walker

edit

When creating articles, it is a good idea to do a search to see if the article was already created. In this case, there was already one for Hezekiah Walker, therefore Rev. Hezekiah Walker was changed to redirect to that main article. You should add any extra information you may have to that article. Also note that articles names normally don't include a prefix such as Rev. or Dr. - see Billy Graham and Martin Luther King for examples. However, the titles may be part of the article text itself. License tagging for Image:2956589339.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:2956589339.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:05, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
