Hi, I am trying to set up the article on an author named Joanna Clapps Herman and it needs to have external links but I am not sure how to set it up. Can someone help me please? Mspivey2 (talk) 14:28, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Please read the following: Wikipedia:External links
External links must not be in the body of the article itself. If you are using an external website as a reference, it is better to use it as references and not to link them directly.
As the reviewer of your article recommended, please read: Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners with citation templates, and Wikipedia:Citation templates.
I will make one example of turning an external link into a source in your article to let you see how it is usually done.--ObsidinSoul 14:48, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also, please note that Wikipedia requires references. This is an encyclopedia, not a means for promotion. As such all articles must have references in reliable secondary and tertiary sources. Except for one (the awards link), all the links you used in your article seems to be primary sources (i.e. they are works written by the subject of the article itself), which makes it look like the primary aim of the article is to sell the subject's books.
I'm sorry but promotional articles are very strictly forbidden. I advise only listing the most notable works of the subject, not everything the subject has written (especially since these are articles, not books). And links to works by the subject are very rarely acceptable. You need to provide other sources not directly related to the subject itself to establish notability, otherwise the article would have a very slim chance of being accepted at all. Try and find sources from newspapers, other books, or academic works that are not the work of the subject and use those as sources for the article. Try and look at existing biographical articles of other authors in Wikipedia. In connection to this, please read Wikipedia:Verifiability.
I have moved all your external links to the appropriate section and provided an example of how you can use references. Please provide sufficient references for the body of the article itself per the recommendations of the reviewer and my recommendations in the previous post. Thanks.--ObsidinSoul 15:10, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
