November 2015 edit

This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at 1999 NBA draft, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. —OluwaCurtis »» (talk to me) 20:58, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

June 2022 edit

Please refrain from adding, removing or changing genres, as you did to Erasure, without providing a source or establishing a consensus on the article's talk page first. Genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 21:08, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Will do. Please tell this to Hiddenstranger as well. Thanks. Msftwin95 (talk) 21:36, 1 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you change genres in pages without discussion or sources, as you did at Erasure. Binksternet (talk) 23:08, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I used sources though. Msftwin95 (talk) 23:09, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Also, you said you removed my Pet Shop Boys edit because it's "too many genres", but there are already more than 4 genres listed. Explain please. Msftwin95 (talk) 23:11, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
So if that is the case, you should also revert HiddenStranger's edit adding the new wave genre, which was made as recently as 15 May. Why didn't you revert that edit if there were already too many genres? Msftwin95 (talk) 23:13, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
If you're going to enforce the rules, you have to enforce them consistently. Don't play favourites please. Msftwin95 (talk) 23:14, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm literally doing the exact same thing as HiddenStranger, but I haven't seen him get any warnings. Maybe try to make your bias less obvious. Msftwin95 (talk) 23:20, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
This is about you. I'm looking at you. You should also be looking at you. Binksternet (talk) 23:21, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
So you admit to granting certain editors special privileges denied to others? As far as I know the rules apply to everyone equally. Msftwin95 (talk) 23:28, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
At the Communards, you made shit up. Nothing in the cited source says Hi-NRG. Stop making shit up.
Also, WP:ALBUMAVOID says that AllMusic sidebar genres are unreliable, and we don't use them. Binksternet (talk) 23:20, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I can and will find sources about The Communards being Hi-NRG if that's what you want, because it's written all over their page already (have you even listened to Don't Leave Me This Way)?
I'm not using sidebar genres, mind you, but rather the genres in the AllMusic album reviews written by an actual music critic. HiddenStranger has done the same thing many many times. Msftwin95 (talk) 23:26, 7 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you change genres in pages without discussion or sources, as you did at Jamie Wednesday. Binksternet (talk) 22:32, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Did I do something wrong? The article begins 'Jamie Wednesday were a British 1980s jangle pop band' so I thought I'd add jangle pop to the genre list. Msftwin95 (talk) 22:34, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
You are right, that's what the article says. But there has never been a reference confirming that in the article. The IP that first started the article did not include a single reference in the first version of the page. Nobody following afterward did either. Binksternet (talk) 22:49, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

July 2022 edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 21:18, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Kindly fuck off. A random, anonymous editor changed the genres to 'new wave' and 'house' a few days ago without any evidence, and I'm the one who's causing a problem? I'm trying to fix the fucking page and you keep changing it back to the opinion of some random, unsourced anonymous editor. Do your fucking job and maybe Wikipedia music articles wouldn't be such a fucking joke. Msftwin95 (talk) 21:38, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
If you go looking for a specific genre, you will likely find it. But is that genre suitable for listing on Wikipedia? What if it's an outlier, or the author is a nobody, or they copied from somewhere else?
The right way to look for a band's infobox genre is to look at all the sources and see what they all agree on. Binksternet (talk) 22:44, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you change genres in pages without discussion or sources, as you did at Counting Crows. - FlightTime (open channel) 01:59, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I used sources. Three of them, in fact. Pretty sure the guy who keeps reverting my edits is the one edit warring, not me. Especially since the page said 'jangle pop' at first before he removed it. I'm the one restoring the page to its original condition. Msftwin95 (talk) 02:03, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. The thread is Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Msftwin95 reported by User:FlightTime (Result: ). Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 02:03, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Guy, all I'm doing is adding a sourced genre back to a Wikipedia page that had it removed. My sources are completely standard as far as reliability goes. There is no 'edit war' happening except one of your own creation. Lay off. Msftwin95 (talk) 03:37, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
And your addition has been reverted by multiple editors. If you want to add the genre at this point, you must discuss and get consensus on the talk page. You cannot bludgeon it in by brute-force repetitive editing: that is the definition of edit warring. —C.Fred (talk) 04:49, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Mate I'm trying my best to make Wikipedia a better and more thorough site in terms of listing music genres. If that is somehow a rule violation then this place has its priorities all wrong. There's a reason why Rate Your Music is so much more accurate when it comes to genres than Wikipedia - they actually listen to their userbase instead of having a tyranny of admins who revert everything they disagree with! Mostly what I'm doing is adding categories to the bottoms of pages in order to make them line up with the genres listed at the top, yet for some reason those keep getting undone! I just don't get it! Just because you don't agree with the genre doesn't mean you get to unilaterally decide to remove it without discussion, and just because you disagree with it doesn't mean the categories shouldn't line up with the genres that are listed! Jesus what's wrong with you people? Do you even read your own rules or just enforce them on people you don't like? Msftwin95 (talk) 04:59, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don't see anybody else who has violated WP:3RR on Counting Crows. You have, and there is no exception to 3RR that qualifies for your edits. —C.Fred (talk) 14:50, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

July 2022 edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  EvergreenFir (talk) 06:34, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

October 2022 edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at It's Alright (Pet Shop Boys song), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. It appears as if you've been blocked before. Don't push your luck.
