Adoption

Greetings Mr little irish/Archive 12010/June, I see you're up for adoption, and I'm in the market. If ever you need advice or answers, just ask me -- any question, any time. I'd like to help however I can. Happy editing - Draeco (talk) 15:32, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey Draeco, thanks for offering me an adoption, thing is, now i dont know how to accept it for a start, and also, have you any idea on how to set up the user page? im trying to get my user boxes to stay on the right so i can write text on the left hand side. Mr little irish (talk) 23:46, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
I'll change the template on your userpage to reflect your acceptance. As for your alignment question, it looks like you have it sorted out, which is good because otherwise I wouldn't know. - Draeco (talk) 14:51, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
You certainly can place warning templates. Template:Uw-vandalism1 is the first in a series of 5 for vandal edits (detailed on that template page). Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace has tables of all the standard talk page templates, including that one. - Draeco (talk) 21:13, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
There are several options; see Help:Archiving a talk page - Draeco (talk) 12:35, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Userpage

I read what you said on another talk page and decided to edit your userpage for you; feel free to revert it if that's not cool. ×××BrightBlackHeaven(talk)××× 16:11, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

I quite simply love you haha! :) Thank you very much for that. Mr little irish(talk) 07:47, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome. ^^ ×××BrightBlackHeaven(talk)××× 07:50, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

You need to stop pimping your userpage and get to making actual edits. >.> (I didn't even have anything but a link to my contributions and a single userbox on my page until last month and I've been here for ages now.) You can start with watchlisting articles about things you know or care about, to review their latest edits and revert them if they're vandalism. I highly recommend enabling Twinkle, it's quicker and easier than the "undo" link (though you should always provide an edit summary unless reverting blatant vandalism). ×××BrightBlackHeaven(talk)××× 08:31, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Funnily enough, I just randomly came across this on someone else's usertalk, you should read through it.

As for Twinkle, you can enable it in the "my preferences" "gadgets" section, under "editing gadgets". Here's what it does: Wikipedia:Twinkle/doc#Features_for_all_users. I just noticed you're not an autoconfirmed user yet, but it takes only like ten edits to be autoconfirmed. (You've actually made 45 edits but they're all on userpages -_-) ×××BrightBlackHeaven(talk)××× 08:57, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Dealing with vandals

You can see all warning templates here Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace/Multi-level_templates. Do get to know what they're for and what they say; when you get Twinkle then you can warn users with a few clicks instead of copy-pasting the warnings but you won't get to preview the warning before you post it so it'd be good to more-or-less memorize what they say. I had that link^ bookmarked for a while, very useful. ^^

  • Also, if you're giving a first warning of the month for them, add a header with the month and the year like this:
==June 2010==

×××BrightBlackHeaven(talk)××× 15:17, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm stalking your edits, I hope you don't mind. :D You may want to use the deletion warning instead of the vandalism warning when people blank certain sections of articles. It often is plain vandalism but if you're not familiar with the article/topic then you may not understand their intention, maybe they thought that the whole section was obsolete? That's not vandalism. Giving the deletion warning instead tells them that they have to give a good reason for removing content.

Also, I might revert the cookie you just gave me, please don't be offended ♥. I just don't like cutesy things. ×××BrightBlackHeaven(talk)××× 13:14, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Rollback

Hello, per your request, I've granted you Rollback rights! Just remember:

If you have any questions, please do let me know.

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial currently scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. –xenotalk 14:58, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Grr

In regards to the barnaster I put on your rewards page... You may not have seen it, but if you did, you didn't pay attention. I would give you another, but you frustrate me. Haha. Maybe reading this message will give time to revert something haha! Keep it going, just not as fast haha! Mr little irish(talk) 13:09, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the award, and yes, it managed to distract me for a while. I also see that you are a new user involved in vandalism patrol, and that you already have the rollback right. In that case you might be interested in using Huggle, a tool specifically made for this task. It is much faster then watching the recent changes list, so it might allow you to be me to the reverts (Though keep in mind that i got experience, and that vandalism patrol isn't a race ;P) Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 13:39, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

So...

What's up with the blog? You know this isn't a social network, right? ×××BrightBlackHeaven(talk)××× 10:23, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Well I was in the making of it, just as a release while im on here, if its not allowed, I can contact an admin and get it removed. Oh and I think I broke my talk page. Mr little irish(talk) 10:31, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
