Aida photo edit

Thanks for cleaning up the cast photo, I'd have done it but don't have access to Photoshop at present. Nice work on Carl Tanner, too! Mdhennessey 06:00, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Adding Carl Tanner to the Santa Fe Apprentice section edit

While it might be nice to see him on the site, the problem with adding him (or, indeed, any non-apprentice who has sung at the SF Opera) to this section is that it can go on being expanded to include EVERYONE who has ever graced that stage.....

And then we'd just have a meaningless long list of singers......

How do you think this can be resolved?

Vivaverdi 20:40, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Carl Tanner was Santa Fe Apprentice, it seems edit

According to an opera source of mine, it seems that he WAS an apprentice in 1992/93. so we'll add him to the list.

Vivaverdi 19:39, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I checked the Santa Fe Opera programmes for 1992 and 1993 last night and confirmed that Tanner was indeed an Apprentice in those years. I've revised his bio article a bit to reflect the chronology of those years. Vivaverdi 16:21, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Transcontinental Railroad edit

Please do not remove content from Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. If you have information that substantiates your position, see WP:Cite for procedures on how to make such edits properly. Finally, do not label good faith edits by established editors as vandalism with edit summaries such as "rvv." Mr Snrub 20:33, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

The information that I removed was incorrect, as I mentioned in my (previous) edit summary. The Proffesor 21:52, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
You need to demonstrate WHY you think the information is incorrect by citing your sources. I'd appreciate it if you would learn how to post messages to user pages properly as well. Mr Snrub 22:04, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:OP-7223.jpg edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:OP-7223.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu Badali 20:13, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:OP-7223.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:OP-7223.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:47, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Carl Tanner.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Carl Tanner.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree 16:30, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Biloxi blues.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Biloxi blues.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 05:32, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

NowCommons: File:914130 Chesapeake.jpg edit

File:914130 Chesapeake.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:914130 Chesapeake.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:914130 Chesapeake.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 20:18, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Mr Snrub! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Matt Mulhern - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

An RfC that you may be interested in... edit

As one of the previous contributors to {{Infobox film}} or as one of the commenters on it's talk page, I would like to inform you that there has been a RfC started on the talk page as to implementation of previously deprecated parameters.
