Serbo-Croatian phonology
Hello Mr KEBAB, I just went over your corrections on the phonology of the Serbo-Croatian languages. Now does the labiodental fricative sound within the phonology section NOT have an allophone that is a labiodental approximant? There is a part of the section that explains that it is "phonologically a sonorant (approximant)". Also there are some vocabulary words that explain where the approximant sound exists. Is it a labiodental fricative with that allophone or is it just a labiodental fricative? Fdomanico51997 (talk) 23:59, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

/v/ is a phonetic fricative, although it has less frication than /f/. However, it does not interact with unvoiced consonants in clusters as a fricative would, and so is considered to be phonologically a sonorant (approximant).

- @Fdomanico51997: That it's phonetic realization is a fricative (but weaker than /f/) but it patterns with sonorants phonologically. Basically, as far as the actual pronunciation is concerned, it's a fricative. Mr KEBAB (talk) 22:29, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

Boston accent in movies
I just found this video taking about the inaccuracies of actors' renditions of the Boston accent in a sort-of-a linguistic manner. I just wanted to know how much you are already aware of what he says in the video (I pretty much had a grip of all of it). — they call me AWESOMEmeeos ... [ˈɔɪ̯]! 22:38, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Awesomemeeos: I'd say everything he said was predictable and mostly also applies to RP (phonetic details aside). But I'm not sure whether actors should always aim at full non-rhoticity. I'm sure there are Bostonians that have more of a GA accent and are variably rhotic, which would mirror the situation in New York and parts of the south.
