License tagging for Image:Boesen School 1.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Boesen School 1.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:00, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Boesen School edit

Hi, I just happened to be passing the AMA page and happened to see your request. I'm nothing to do with them, but I was just having a look to see what they did. Having read your request, I thought I might say a word or two.

I had a look on Youngamerican's talk page and couldn't find any request from you asking about the deletion of the Boesen school (district 28) article. I see you said you emailed him. I think the best course would be to make the request on his talk page, as this is how people normally communicate on matters which are about wiki. He might ignore you if you send an email, he might not even have read it. If you post on a talk page, then everyone can positively identify the user who is posting.

I had a look at the remains of the article, or at least at the deletion log. I'm not an admin, so I can't undelete anything, or resuscitate anything. technically, bringinging an article back from the dead is probably possible, but I've no idea if it is feasible. An admin might be willing to make a copy of the article as a sub-page of your user page, so that you could copy off the information. (You can use your user page and sub pages for admin sorts of tasks, though not for permanently hosting, say a family tree). There is a formal process for getting encyclopedia articles undeleted, but you would have to explain there why you thought it had been unfairly deleted.

However, the deletion log says it was tagged for deletion for some reason, and no one objected within the time limit (i infer this is 5 days). I don't know what grounds were listed for deletion, but I can suggest some possibles. You might like to read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Why_was_my_page_deleted%3F or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Speedy_deletions which may have an answer. There are lists of things which wiki does have articles about, and things it doesn't.

I gather this was an article about a school. Generally, wiki is ambivalent about schools. Wiki only keeps articles on things which it considers 'noteable', and the argument goes that there are hundreds of thousands of schools in the world, most of which are pretty ordinary, and don't merit an article. To stay here, it helps if a school has some history (the article should have a section explaining its history). It helps if it has a photograph. There must be some policy page about schools, but i don't know where it might be.

Wiki also does not host personal biographies, family trees, chats with your mates, unless these things happen to also be something which you might imagine finding in an encyclopedia, say one you bought in your local bookstore. So if it was a list of members of your own family, then it would have been deleted unless someone in it was famous. I also think the deletion process can be agravatingly fast, in that things can be deleted inside a week, before you even know a page has a problem.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions, Sandpiper 20:21, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have undeleted Boesen School (District 28) per your request. It was proposed for deletion and no one objected after five days, so it was deleted. Your email, however, counts as an objection, therefore I have undeleted the article. Hopefully you can make improvements to the article so it can avoid future trips through the deletion process. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 21:15, 19 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi! I passed by your AMA request. Do you have any newspaper articles describing the school? Is it notable for anything? There don't have to be on-line sources, old newspaper articles would do fine. But Wikipedia's attribution policy requires every article to have reliable sources establishing that the article subject is notable and has been discussed by some newspaper, journal or publication. If you don't address the issue of providing sources within some reasonable period of time, it's quite possible the article will be proposed for deletion some time in the future. Hi! I've closed the case since what you requested, undeleting the article, has been accomplished. Suggest using this time to supply any available sources and identify any interest taken in the school by journalists or historians, notable alumni, etc. that would help explain the school's notability. The undeletion is temporary, and the article may be proposed for deletion again if other editors believe the article lacks sufficient evidence of attribution or notability. Please contact us again if there are any difficulties. Best, --Shirahadasha 01:36, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Boesen Pictures edit

I just put the pictures back into the article which someone had simply deleted, rather than arranging them so they could be viewed. I was wondering where the pictures came from, and where the images of assembled pages came from? Sandpiper 22:21, 19 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Boesen School (District 28) edit

Boesen School (District 28), an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Boesen School (District 28) satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Boesen School (District 28) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Boesen School (District 28) during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. ---

I'm sorry, but I have to nominate this article for another deletion round (this time, more formally, the discussion will be here and open for at least 5 days). Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and, as such, aims at covering only notable topics. You can find this defined in the notability guideline; it basically amounts to that reliable sources, such as newspapers or historicians, have written about the topic. That does not seem to be the case for this school.

You said in a posting that "The pages [...] were posted in the hope of informing and using my full name in the hope of making acquantances with other family members". Maybe then you were in error about Wikipedia's nature. It is, as said, an encyclopedia and not meant to be a provider of personal webspace, or a platform to make contact with people. Other sites do this; perhaps you should try there. Regards, --B. Wolterding 19:45, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
