how do i send a private message?
- On Wikipedia, the usual way to send someone a message is to edit their User Talk page (for instance, User talk:ais523 if you want to send a message to me); this is how I'm sending you a message now. This method of communication, however, is not private, although it does go to a particular person (because other people can read the message). If you want to send a message privately, you'll first have to give an email address and activate it via Special:Preferences; you can then use 'e-mail this user' to the left of a user's userpage (User:ais523 in my case) to send them an email from the address you've activated (although doing this will reveal your email address to them).
