Images edit

Look at this link to see what I've done to the image page for Image:Logo kassandra.jpg. In short, I have:

  • added an appropriate license - {{Non-free promotional|image_has_rationale=yes}}
  • added a "Fair Use Rationale" section explaining why I think it is okay to use the image. The wording is fairly standard form and can be reused, with appropriate changes, for each image you wish to add. There needs to be a distinct fair use rationale for each instance of the use of the image, and so if you were to reuse this image on another article page, you would have to add a new fair use rationale for that use.
  • Filled in a number of other standard questions about
    • Portion=All
    • Low_resolution=Yes
    • Purpose=Illustrate the Kassandra (TV series) per fair use rationale, below
    • Replaceability=Not replaceable

which are saying, we're using all of the image, it is low resolution (and so, for instance, not likely to be useful to someone seeking to make money out of the fairly used image), that there's a purpose to our use, and that we consider that there is no replacement for the image

I appreciate all of this does not look straightforward, but you'll get used to it. And as I said, reading around places like WP:NFC, might start to give you pointers (but equally might not - some of our help and explanation pages are hard to navigate, in part because there's so much subject matter that it is hard to see the wood for the trees.)

Hope this helps. Oh - would it be okay if I removed both of your reference desk questions now, since they are in the wrong place and you;ve now had a (hopefully useful) answer? Please let me know. thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:20, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Milex. Feel free to bother me with questions on my talk page, if you feel the need. I'm only on wikipedia for 3 or so days in each week, but happy to help if I can. I've removed your questions. best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:47, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help Me Question edit

Hi guys,

I'm new in this wikipedia edit and I want to contribute. I added and expanded some articles in wikipedia. One of them is Llovizna (telenovela) and Kassandra (telenovela). I learned how to edit and add new articles in wikipedia. What I don't know is how to upload image and put correct "Permission", "Licensing" and copyright status of the image and entire process of uploading pictures. I wanted upload index image for Llovizna (telenovela) and I did but I got stuck up with this "Permission", "Licensing" process because I can't figure out how it works. I ask if somebody can write entire and I mean entire process of uploading images or pictures. For ex. How to put logos in indexes? What kind of "Permission", "Licensing" and copyright status of the image I need to put in and and process how to put it. Thanks in advance. Bye. Milex (talk) 13:58, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well it has been written: This tells you how to upload: Wikipedia:Uploading images, when on the screen to upload there is a field you put the tag in. Read this: Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for tag info. GtstrickyTalk or C 14:06, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Could you guys check if Logo Llovizna.jpg is copyrighted and properly tagged because I'm stuck in this image licensing, permission and tagging. If image is copyrighted and not allowed to use in here delete it please or if it is OK to stay on Wikipedia fix it up to stay on Llovizna (telenovela) article. And one more thing. I can't figure out how to tag images. There are a lot of examples how to do it but to me they are kind of confusing. I can upload image but still I don't understand how to tag them and where to put tags. Or to do licensing, permission. Please if you can fill me an example form of how to do all of that process. Thanks in advance. Bye Milex (talk) 11:14, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The way you download a file is to click 'Upload file'. Browse for your image, add the required information, and at the bottom, click upload file. Andy Bjornovich (talk) (contributions) (email) 12:41, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see you have put in a fair use rationale for Image:Logo Llovizna.jpg. The tag you need to use is therefore a fair use tag. You should replace the existing tag on the page (which merely says that you need help) with the appropriate fair use tag. You have described the image as a logo and the correct tag for a logo would be {{Non-free logo}}. However, in my opinion, it does not appear to be a logo, but might be described as a poster, in which case {{Non-free poster}} would be a more appropriate tag. You can find more fair use tags at WP:TAGS/FU. I cannot say whether or not those who review images will agree that it is fair use, but it sounds reasonable to me.
