Hi Mickeym1960... I'm not sure I understand your comment above. Is there something I can help you with? Just let me know! Cheers!

There is a feedback policy: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Feedback_policy is a big surprise. It seems that only Wikimedia Foundation cares about the Wikipedia. But it gives an impression that many other people edit here? And i had originally the impression that the software used is open source as well?
And this feedback thingy looks great, but i cannot understand it :)
Do you know what " the server confidentially stores related IP information for a limited period of time. This information is automatically deleted after a set period." stated in the privacy policy means in real life? How long it is stored?
:) I'm fairly new to the 'new user feedback' mechanism. I like the idea of it, but I'm not sure it doesn't complicate things just a little bit. I do know that Wikimedia/Wikipedia cares a great deal about welcoming and developing new editors for the project. I think the feedback is a great thing.
Yes, my understanding is that the software IS open source and downloadable. I'm afraid that I don't know the answers to your questions about the privacy policy. I would assume, like most websites, that IP addresses are stored automatically. Editors that do not have log in IDs will have their IP addresses recorded with their edits. Could you change the feedback policy to make it somehow not like a companies policy? I suppose you do not work for the foundation as well?
I don't work for the foundation and certainly can't change the policy! :) If you look at the privacy policy page you'll notice that, like all other pages in Wikipedia, there is a 'Talk Page' [1]. You can read through the discussions and perhaps get a sense of how the policy is developed and modified. (You'll also see my question about how long IP information is stored!)
