Firstly, please note Catholics refer to ourselves as "Catholics," not "Roman" Catholics. Your "three-revert rule" is only protecting Protestants who object to us calling ourselves Catholics. We have a right to call ourselves whatever we choose, just as your denomination--if any--as the right to call yourselves what you choose. Catholics do not object to Baptists calling themselves Baptists, even though we too have been baptized. We do not object to members of the Church of Christ calling themselves such, even though we believe our church is also "in" Christ. If you have some theological objection, please present it; otherwise, admit your bias (i.e., prejudice). Thank you. For the record, I know of what I speak: I have a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame.

Three Revert Rule

edit

Warning

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly, as you are doing at Roman Catholic Church. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. In addition, please remain civil; referring to other editors as 'heretics' is inappropriate. TSP (talk) 16:01, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries and WP:CIVIL

edit

Irrespective of the rights and wrongs of an argument (and I refer you to WP:NPOV) edit summaries must remain Civil. This edit by you included an uncivil edit summary. Please don't do that again. --Dweller (talk) 16:01, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

With all due respect, adding "Roman" in front of "Catholic Church" is not an invention of the protestants, as you've stated. Its purpose is to differentiate the Roman Catholic Church from the Eastern Orthodox Church[1]. This is a schism that happened almost one thousand years ago. And our Catholic church is called Roman because our Pope lives in Rome making Rome the epicenter. There is no need to see the word Roman as being a slight to your Catholicism, no matter where you live. Affinity likely •Hello• 16:24, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

As an editor who has worked on the RCC article, I suggest you (Meg) review the debates that have gone on regarding RCC vs CC, so that you don't look like you haven't done your homework. Please review this so as to make informed contributions to WP on this matter. Thanks! The.helping.people.tick (talk) 17:38, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Three Revert Rule

edit

This rule is not intended to protect any particular group. It is a policy uniformly applied across Wikipedia. Please see WP:3RR. If you break it, you will probably be blocked from editing. And that's true whether you're a Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Jew, Muslim or Jedi. --Dweller (talk) 18:33, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
