Speedy deletion of Great Scott (band)

edit

A tag has been placed on Great Scott (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Scapler (talk) 23:29, 19 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have cited 3rd party references as well as notability facts. The tribute band phenomenon has its own wiki page and Great Scott was a pioneer as one of the first such acts in Canada and remains active after 15 years. (Mbrowsky (talk) 02:53, 20 October 2008 (UTC))Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in this edit to Tribute act. Sorry. I was unaware that I was to use internal wiki links in lieu of external wiki links. (Mbrowsky (talk) 02:58, 20 October 2008 (UTC))Reply

This is your last warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Great Scott (band).   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 01:39, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what you mean by vandalizing? I placed links from the Great Scott(band) wiki over to relevant pages in the text such as AC/DC's wiki entry. I though that's what I was supposed to do.

Oh....OK.... I am not to use the full wiki URL when I reference another wiki page. Simply use the internal link. Also no YouTube links as citation for live performances on the radio.....gotcha. Sorry again. Hope I am correct in my assumptions now.

(Mbrowsky (talk) 02:20, 20 October 2008 (UTC))Reply

You are certainly not vandalizing, those are most likely automatic notifications. If they were not, he really should have assumed your good faith. You simply added links improperly, a simple mistake. To link to other Wikipedia articles, simply place the article title in brackets, for example: typing [[Great Scott (band)]] will yield the result Great Scott (band). Hope this helps! Scapler (talk) 02:21, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gotcha. Someone tagged the Great Scott(band) page for deletion again though. I will link properly in the future.

It appears you are receiving warnings for inaapropriate linking. Just so you know, to link to internal Wikipedia articles, instead of listing out the full website, just place the term in brackets. For example, to link to the article on Ligers, you would put brackets around the term "Liger". It should show up as a blue link, like this: Liger Scapler (talk) 02:05, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Great Scott (band) has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\byoutube\.com' (link(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBTvsohWgAA) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image or a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Not scared at all, just learning. Although, it seems the article has been nominated for speedy deletion again. What gives there? I have satisfied all the requirements asked of me. (Mbrowsky (talk) 02:57, 20 October 2008 (UTC))Reply

It seems that the speedy deletion tag has been removed. In the end, it was not really suitable for speedy deletion, as you claimed significance in the article. Scapler (talk) 22:20, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
