Suggesting edits edit

Hi there. I just noticed this suggestion and then I looked at your contributions and noticed that you're fairly new around here. I wanted to make sure you know that you're more than welcome to make all the edits you want (as long as they're not destructive or disruptive, of course) and you don't have to ask others to do it. I'm about to go make the edit you suggested... you're absolutely right about it!... but I just wanted to say hi and encourage you to jump right in any time you want. And I'd be more than happy to help you if you have any questions. If I don't know the answer, I'll bet I can find someone who does. :) -- edi(talk) 02:46, 17 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

(Copied here for reference) I appreciate your kind words of encouragement; however, regarding the article in question (Dr. Seuss), when I went to edit it, I found it locked. I'm not sure if I'm too new to be accorded the privilege of editing certain high-profile articles or whether that article was simply frozen (if the latter is the case, it's still frozen), but in either case I wasn't able and am not able to make changes to it. So, I made do. Maximilian Caldwell (talk) 22:12, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hi there. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I just wanted to let you know, in case you haven't figured it out already, that the reason you couldn't edit the Dr. Seuss article is that it was (and still is, and probably will remain indefinitely) semi-protected. You can tell when this is the case because there's a silver padlock at the top right corner of the article space, right across from the title. (Other colors of padlocks denote different types of protection; you can look here if you're interested in learning more about it.)
Anyway, about semi-protection: It means that the article can only be edited by autoconfirmed users, which (for most people; there are rare exceptions) basically means those who have been registered for more at least 4 days and have made at least 10 edits. My understanding is that the edits can be of any type; I don't think there's any restriction that they have to be mainspace (article) edits. And that brings me to my main point (finally!). You've been here far more than 4 days, and I just had a look at your contributions and it looks like you made your 10th edit yesterday. So congratulations! If my calculations are correct, it looks like you can most likely edit just about anything you want to edit now.
If this turns out to be incorrect and/or you have further questions or problems, please don't hesitate to contact me. In the meantime... happy editing! -- edi(talk) 21:18, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Blackstone Hall edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Blackstone Hall. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Blackstone Hall. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Bevington rudall.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Bevington rudall.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:00, 15 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 15:00, 15 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
