Question about "flexibility and balance" comment:

edit

Hmm, "What has made this system so enduring is it's mechanic of Advantages and Limitations. Anyone disagree with that? Is that a more factual way of saying "flexibility?" (Question as posted by Markspace)

I think the terms flexibility andbalance are fine.... I think the larger concern is the phrase "What has made this system so enduring..." as "enduring" is a relatively general term, and as such is a matter of opinion (one for which I agree). Perhaps "The system's rules foundation has remained relatively unchanged from its initial edition to its modern incarnation. This consistency can be attributed to the rules flexibility and balance." or some such (still not that happy with this).

Hope you do not mind me starting a talk page on your sandbox. Lightning91 22:08, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

How about a bit more explanation of what you feel it means?

"A feature which has persisted in each version is an Advanatage and Limitation system which allows the core list of power/skills/effects/abilities to be expanded or refined to describe a specific power from a very broad effect. While many games allow the addtion of benfits or disadvantages to a character, (examples: wealth, popularity, infamy, etc.) Champions applied limits and enhancements to the effects the characters create. The explanation given in several publications was an attempt to allow the player to describe what the mechanics create and thus remove as much of the "descritpive" portion of effects from the power itself (eg. A blast of energy can be changed to a laser, an explosive anti-matter projectile, a proton beam used to capture ghosts or a charge delivered through an energized mace.) This feature is mentioned many times as a fan favorite"

Then follow this with citations from the Hero Boards describing it?--Slavlin 22:02, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Infobox additions/corrections

edit

We need to add an image. I recommend one for the BBB (4th ed Champions for non-herophiles).

The designers are for an earlier edition, yet the publication date is for the 5th. I am not sure what the infobox policy is for listing multiple editions (one for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th), for listing multiple editions in one infobox, or which edition to list if you can only use one.

We could possibly refer to a table in the text from the infobox for designers and publication dates, but that defeats the purpose of the infobox itself.

I believe the first edition may be the most relevant (especially since the current rule set is listed in 5er (Hero System 5th edition).

I also think we should list the Genre as "Superhero" and omit "fiction".

Any opinions?

PS (unrelated) I think we may want to mention the acronym BBB ("Big Blue Book") for 4th edition, as it is still in common usage in the hero community.
