Talk page posts

edit

Hi there :-) Just wondering...are you planning to post that jingle to multiple talk pages? Please limit the number of pages you wish to share that on, because unfortunately, it can be interpreted as spamming on Wikipedia. Thanks. --HappyCamper 14:09, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. --HappyCamper 14:11, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Didn't I? Mahk Twen 14:20, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Editors! Let me to bring to your ken,
The sad sad story of poor Mahk Twen.
He added a jingle to several pages,
Now his story is one for the ages.
[CHORUS]
He though Wikipedia his playground for verse,
His situation soon went from bad to worse.
His nonsense was cute but not wanted here
His user account was seen to disappear.
[CHORUS]
They banned him, they blocked him,
the blocked his IP.
They wrote his name in the blocked-user log
With the fatal legend: "Attention hog".
[CHORUS]
--CHORUS--
Poor Mahk Twen! Poor Mahk Twen!
Disappeared and never seen again,
Banned for life, for life and a day,
All because he had nothing to say.

Seriously though. You've had your fun, would you like assistance on how to make useful contributions to Wikipedia? Herostratus 14:16, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you say so! Mahk Twen 14:20, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, it looks like another editor found your activities suspicious too. But, as you said, you'll stop in this message, so I'll assume you'll follow through with that. Thanks. --HappyCamper 14:22, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Righto.
OK. I removed the warning. We have to work fast here you know... I actually found the little bit you put upon it on HappyCamper's talk page intereesting... I wonder if (properly sourced) it has a place somewhere here? Probably not, actually, now that I think of it, too fine a detail. Amusing though. So, are you gonna be doing some editing? So where did it actually originate, what transit company? Also how can a one-verse jingle have a chorus?Herostratus 14:35, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

re: article A Literary Nightmare

Man, you should definitely make that into an article. It's only a short story but I'm sure it would rate an article because 1) it's by Twain, 2) it's extremely amusing, and 3) it bears on the now-popular theme of memes (meme of themes?). I mean, you have all the sources and you write well and there you go. Go for it!

FWIW it's not actually a meme, it's a... a... is there a word for that? I read Thought Contagion (well, not read, but read the inside of the dustjacket and bought and kept on my bookshelf for while), and a meme is more like a belief.

Anyway, no, you don't have to change your username. Why? Because of your "reputation"? Lol nobody cares about that, a lot of good editors started out a lot worse than that. No worries. Herostratus 16:38, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

You need to step up your contribution rate, buddy. Herostratus (talk) 13:01, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
