Do good on Wikipedia! Lost Sea In The Ocean

edit

I see you've been removing a lot of commercial links from articles, with edit summaries claiming they're spam and that you're right to remove "commercial links". While many external links at wikipedia are indeed spam, there is no prohibition of commercial or for-profit links. Indeed, you've been removing links from articles like Durex and Ansell where the links are to the company's own website. That's not spam - indeed, the prevailing policy WP:EL#What_should_be_linked says "Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site if any." So please don't remove any more of these links, and please go around the articles you've "fixed" and undo your change. Thanks. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 16:08, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear superkevbo. You must stop adding links to your commercial website "Condom Man dot com". You have your competitors banned from WIKIPEDIA (see user JohnnyTampa) for adding links to their websites. Yet for some reason you think it is fair to have links to your commercial website.

NEITHER IS RIGHT AND BOTH ARE VIOLATIONS OF WIKI POLICY.

The fact that you post all types of negative comments about user "JohnnyTampa" all the while you are doing exactly the same thing! I find this very odd. Take your issues up in other ways... not by compromising and wasting the time of Wikipedia's mods !!!!

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 03:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Howdy, I noticed you're removal of links from the Condom article. I agree, those links are inappropriate (and sent the user a message to that effect). Of course, we can still discuss the matter on the talk page (if anyone so desires), but I don't think that commercial links of that sort are likely to get very far. Do remember to keep calm, however. You won't last long as a spam or vandal fighter if you're always worked up. You should also avoid making statements which might be taken as legal threats (such as this one), even if you think they are accurate assessments of the legal situation, they can get you blocked fairly quickly (see WP:LEGAL). Superkevbo (talk · contribs) has also indicated you have called and emailed him; this is outside of Wikipedia's control, of course, but be aware it may not be a good idea for any variety of reasons. Spam can be frustrating, but keep calm and it will go a great deal more smoothly. --TeaDrinker 04:10, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, just for the record, I didn't have anyone banned. One of the admins banned your account because you kept adding spam links despite them telling you not to.

I was happy to have condomdepot linked to in the condom article, and I said so last month. Here's an excerpt from the email I had sent in response to the email you sent me a month ago, "My edit was not a personal attack against your company... In the future if you would like to add content to the page, and a link back to your site, please just email me and let me know ... I was just enforcing the rules."

I am in agreement with you in regards to commercial links and as such am in the process of removing any content that I had added that links to a commercial site.

And just so you know, wikipedia links do not pass along pagerank. I wasn't trying to get pagerank, I was just adding content and linking to the resource I knew best. Anyone who adds links to wikipedia in the hope to get pagerank for it will be very disappointed with the results.

PS - As fellow condom etailers who share the same goal of promoting safe sex, I truly do wish we could cooperate and be partners rather than fight with each other. I'll do what I can in the future to further that goal.Superkevbo 04:50, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is funny. You what Macuser77 banned?? For removing SPAM? Lets get more people involved so we can have Me banned? Lets just ban everyone and start WIKI over. I will continue to remove commercial links to e-tailers in Sexuality Topics. I have not added links and I am not planning on adding links as MacUser77. If anyone has a problem with that please post here... I will no longer respond on SuperKevBo or issues involving him. I will also not waste any more peoples time on this crazyness!!

HUH? I didn't say I wanted you banned. I said I was in agreement with you. Perhaps you were looking at an old message I wrote.Superkevbo 05:26, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
