Your recent addition to Raven-Symoné has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.   Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in this edit to File:Raven simo.jpg. Inappropriate links include links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that serve as advertising or promotion. Thank you. Copyright question

We have a large group of policies related to copyrights: WP:IUP, WP:FU, WP:NFCC, WP:COPYRIGHT, and more. You can take the time to read them if you want. If you don't, here's the simple explanation:

  • All images you find on the web are copyrighted unless there is a specific statement saying that it is not copyrighted.
  • You cannot download images from the web and put them on Wikipedia except for a few exceptions about record covers and book covers.
  • Even record covers and book covers can only be included in the article about that record or book.
  • You can never upload a picture of a living person without written permission from the photographer. I'll say that one again, because it's important: never upload a picture of a living person without written permission from the photographer.

As to why other sites do it, it's simple: most of them are breaking the law. We don't, and editors that do are blocked.—Kww(talk) 04:16, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to upload inappropriate images, such as File:Raven simo.jpg, to Wikipedia, you will be blocked.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 04:29, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Licensing Troubles

I took away the big scary warning, and am replacing it with a personal note, because I think you are trying to be a good editor. Anyway, there are a couple of problems with File:On The 6.jpg. First, it's an exact copy of File:Onthe6.jpg, and there's no reason to have two copies of the same picture. Second, you filled out the licensing incorrectly, and caused a few of the image scanning programs to get excited. If you look at File:Onthe6.jpg, you can see an example of the right way to fill out the licensing.—Kww(talk) 01:59, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Fair Use images

It is not permitted to use an album cover to illustrate a biography. I've reverted you change to Raven-Symoné. You should read WP:NFCC and WP:IUP before adding more images.—Kww(talk) 11:22, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
