Marilou

edit

Hi, and welcome. We only have articles on Wikipedia about things that are what we call notable. It doesn't look good for AnyKode Marilou at the moment; I see no hits on news.google.com, only 358 Google search hits, and nothing on the first 5 pages of Google hits that suggested that this product is widely in use, or that it has been mentioned by reliable sources. Can you establish notability for this product? I see that it's quite expensive, so I imagine that it is aimed more for institutions than for students; has anyone signed up for a license? (Feel free to answer here, or on the article's talk page.) - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 02:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

RE Marilou

edit

Hi, thank you for the welcome, I’m the founder of the Marilou software and ... new on WikiPedia.

-> I see no hits on news.google.com : users contacts support using email directly.

-> Only 358 Google search hits : in fact Marilou communication started really this year. And google de-referenced us when we changed our website from HTML site to PHP site. I don't know what happens because yahoo for example gives us a good place on several good keywords. I hope google will re-give our original place quickly.

-> Can you establish notability for this product: How to do that? Marilou is used by research laboratory like Lirmm, LIRINS, LORIA, Polytech Montpellier and others, but we cannot force them to produce "text" to the tools they are using in their researches. Now, when laboratory or school want de decrease licenses prices, we ask them to produce at least 2 papers that talk about Marilou.

-> I see that it's quite expensive, so I imagine that it is aimed more for institutions than for students: it's for institutions and industry. Institutions licences gives free licences for students (they can continue working with their own computers at home). Also, hobbyists can download the free HOME license. (it's a free download, a registration page will be done)

-> has anyone signed up for a license? Yes of course, our principal customers are Korea, French and we are developing Canadian and US market.

I understand it's not easy to say if Marilou is ’notable’ software. I can just say that the full version is downloaded at least 20 times for a day since 1 year... For exemple NASA download us every months (at every update)

Hum, i've modified the article to put references and remove the 'advertisment' side. Of course i'm i will make anothers changes, putting images.

Thank you

Okay, Welcome to Wikipedia, and remember to sign your name using ~~~~ when you make a post on a talk page (not on the article page) so that people can see who's saying what. I'll reply on the article's talk page. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 13:49, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Lrofthejungle. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 12:50, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello. i completely agree with the policy. But in the case of akrdc on this page, there is not article, suggestion, advertisement or biased explains : it is only 1 line in a 3 tables that tells that it exists, it is compatible with android and it supports (or not) 2 or 3 functions ... nothing so much biased.
