More drama at troubled Iipumbu School as 2 leaners are expelled

Iipumbu Senior Secondary School is a state school in Oshakati in the Oshana in the Northernwest of Namibia. It was established in 1980 its first Principal was Mr.Kauko Shikongo, the current principal is Mr. Simone Sidney, there are 1480 learners and 39 teachers.

Two learners from Grade 11 at the above-mentioned school were expelled from school when it is discovered taht they did not obtain 23 points in Grade 10 in order to proceed to Grade 11.

On the 13 October 2011, the Education Minister Dr. Abraham Iyambo surprisingly visited the school and Mr. Immanuel Aipanda, Education Deputy Director of Oshana confirmed to the Minister the two leaners dismissal and also stated that these leaners admited from Namibia College of Open Learning.

Due to this circumstance, teachers at this school are afraid of being demoted and the Director said this exercise is happening at other schools as well just to encourage the teachers to be more productive.[1]

The performance at the school has dropped drastically, because of lack of discipline among the learners. The Director concluded that they are trying their level best to help the school to rise up again.
