Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair Center

Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair Center is situated in Oshana region North West of Namibia, in a well-known town Ongwediva on the main road Ondangwa,Ongwediva to Oshakati. The Trade Fair is one of the most notable events that take place every year in the Ongwediva Town. This year it’s 13th edition, one of the notable places are King Kauluma hall, Queen hall, Headman hall and the Kiosk.[1] it attract lots of people especially the exhibitors from; South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Indonesia and Japan, amongst others. The fair show of different activities such as, education activity, circus, livestock show, bars, clothing shops, auto shops, government ministries and departments. It runs for 9 days each and every year, OATF is one of the things making Ongwediva Town to develop so fast. The fair can attract more than 100 000 visitors annually[2], one of the good things about it, it is situated near guests houses and hotels, like Seven Valleys Guest and Etuna Guest House on the left and 1km away is Hotel Destiny and Africa Stadthaus hotel and Shoprite making it easier for the people who are selling their beverages.

The entrance to go in is N$5 for children under the age of 15 and N$10 for those above 16 and the same applies to the car parking. As from 19h00 till it close every day the is entertainment show from the local artist like, The Dogg, Gazza, PDK and many more. For every last Friday of the fair, Miss Trade Fair take place. The main sponsor of the event is MTC Namibia this being 3rd year sponsoring OATF. Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair started of in 2000 at Ongwediva College, this trade was known as a women trade fair, till today the 2000 trade fair is ranked as the best trade fair ever in the history OATF. The president, his excellency president Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba officially open it every year.[3] The time, the former president Sam Nujoma opened it and the was free antrance and kids we able to take what ever they want that day. Ongwediva Trade Fair is one of the biggest, well known and successful trade fair in Namibia compared to the others.[4]
